Name: Dazzle Dusts
Brand: Barry M
Price: £4.59

From Barry M’s website:
A spectacular collection of breath taking loose, highly pearlised powder available in a profusion of colours to enhance your eyes, cheeks or lips. Each little pot contains multiple facets of intensive reflective colour that glides on smoothly adding sparkle and sheen. These luscious shades can be applied bright and bold or shimmering and subtle, with over 60 original colours to choose from everyone can find a favourite pot or two or three…

What I liked:
- available in lots of beautiful shades
- good color payoff
- very shimmery
- easy to apply and blend
- the packaging
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- may be too shimmery for some people
- they need a primer to adhere well to the skin
- application can be messy

I can’t believe that, even though I’ve been raving about Barry M Dazzle Dusts for almost three years now, I haven’t written a review about them yet! Well, it’s high time to remedy that, don’t you think? So, let’s get started! The Dazzle Dusts come in more than 70 colors (and they are all permanent!) and are packaged in small, round and sturdy glass jars.

Although it doesn’t say anywhere on the packaging how much product it contains, and the jars look quite small, there is actually enough color in there to last you for a lifetime. And although the jars don’t have a sifter, they aren’t as prone to powder ending up everywhere when you open them and are also quite handy for travelling! I’ve travelled with them a couple of times and there were no spillage problems at all!

But let’s see swatches and descriptions of the colors I have at the moment, shall we?

(from L to R: #15 Aqua, #75 Lime, #86 Pink Shimmer, #76 Yellow, #77 Orange and #84 Cherry Red)

#15 Aqua is a shimmery and pigmented blue/green with gold shimmers that really looks like sea water. #75 Lime, instead is my least favourite shade out of all the ones I have. It is a beautiful shimmery lime green but it is also very sheer and very prone to fall out. Granted, all loose pigments have fall out problems, but this really beats them all by far! You also need to pack it on to get a bright color. #86 Pink Shimmer looks like a soft pink on Barry M website but it’s actually a pigmented, shimmery and bright fuchsia.

#76 Yellow is a bright, shimmery yellow. It applies quite sheer but it can easily be built up for more intensity. #77 Orange is a shimmery, bright true orange with great color payoff. #84 Cherry Red is a shimmery and bold true red. It is medium pigmented but because of how bright it is, it is very, very hard to pull off on the eyes. I like to use it sparingly on the lid and pairing it with the yellow and orange which makes it more wearable but it’s definitely not a shade for the faint of heart!

(from L to R: #65 Green Iridescent, #10 Grey, #14 Khaki, #20 Baby Blue, #68 Turquoise and #78 Kingfisher)

#65 Green Iridescent is a sheer white chock full of green shimmers and is perfect to highlight the browbone. #10 Grey, is a medium shimmery grey with a nice color payoff, not too pigmented but not too sheer either. #14 Khaki is one of my favourites. Very pigmented and shimmery, if you sweep it on, it is a dark olive green, while if you pat it on, it turns into a stunning and bright forest green.

#20 Baby Blue is, like the name says, a pretty, shimmery and soft baby blue shade. This too is very sheer but it also easy to build up if you want a more intense color payoff. #68 Turquoise is another favourite of mine. This pigmented and shimmery medium blue is infused with a gold sheen and looks either blue or gold depending on how the light hits it. #78 Kingfisher is a bright, shimmery medium blue and is just very pretty.

All of the shades are chock full of shimmers, which can be too much for some people, but I personally love that. But despite the shimmers, they have a very fine and soft texture that’s not gritty at all (although I heard that some of the other shades can be slightly gritty) and are easy to apply and blend. They also have a good color payoff but the shades aren’t as bright as they look in the pot. The color is quite soft at first but you need to build it up if you want it to really pop (or just use them on top of Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy).

Like all loose eyeshadows, they perform better on top of a primer, which makes them better adhere to the lid and also minimizes fall out which can occur with these. In addition, they also last all day with the help of a good base. The lighter shades can also be used to highlight your face and decollete or mixed with lip gloss to add some shine to your pout. You can even add them to your nail polish if you want to! They are just very versatile and handy pigments to have around and are so cheap too!

Available at: barrym.com, asos.com and Superdrug stores throughout the UK

Summary
Barry M Dazzle Dusts are inexpensive, shimmery loose eyeshadows that are available in more than 70 permanent shades! They have good color payoff and can be applied sheer for a nice wash of color on the eyes or be built up for more intensity. They also have a fine and soft texture and can be used on the face, cheeks and nails too! However, they are prone to fall out (like all loose eyeshadows are) and need a primer to adhere well to the lids.

Rating: 4/5

do you like pigments? I’ve always loved them but I’ve been neglecting them lately. They can be a bit messy to apply and because the weather is so cold and I tend to spend more time that I should in my cozy back in the mornings, I’ve been doing mostly simple and quick looks with pressed eyeshadows. But a couple of days ago I decided that it was time to give my pigments some love and this is what came out. It’s a wearable look with some pop of color and it takes only a few minutes to do. Let me know what you think of it!

Directions:
- Start by applying an eyeshadow primer to your eyes (I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance) to help makeup stay put all day and improve the color payoff of the eyeshadows.
– Apply Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy (if you don’t have, you can skip this step) on the lid to make the colors really pop.
- Sweep a light orange shade (I used BFTE eyeshadow in Tangerine) on the lid.
- Apply a golden brown shade (I used Formula D eyeshadow in Golden Bear) on the crease and blend.
- Sweep a pale pink shade (I used Formula D eyeshadow in Kaleidoscope) on the browbone to highlight. Apply the same shade on the inner corners of the eyes. This will open up the eyes.
- Line your lid with a brown pencil liner (I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Whiskey).
- Now it’s time to apply color on the lower lashline. Sweep an aqua shade (I used Barry M Dazzle Dust in #15 Aqua) in that area and then apply mascara.
- On your face, apply your usual foundation (I used YSL Teint Singulier Sheer Powdercreme Veil Foundation in no.5) and then concealer (I used Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Porcelain) to cover dark circles or any other imperfection you may have.
- Sweep an orangey blush with gold shimmers (I used Paul & Joe Disney Face Color Ball in 001 Fantastic Orange) on your cheeks and highlight the cheekbones, middle of the nose and chin with a white highlighter (I used the white shade in the Wet n Wild Cover All Concealer Palette).
- Apply a coral lipstick (I used Michael Todd Creme Lipstick in Pumpkin) on your lips.

– Apply Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy (if you don’t have, you can skip this step) on the lid to make the colors really pop.
- Apply an icy pale pink (I used Lychee in the Sleek Good Girl palette) on the inner part of the lid.
- Apply a coral shade (I used Strawberry Sorbet in the Sleek Good Girl palette) on the outer part of the lid and blend where the colors meet.
- Apply a fuchsia shade (I used Pink Punch in the Sleek Good Girl palette) on the outer V and on the crease. Blend well to soften any harsh lines.
- Sweep a pale yellow shade (I used the one in the Sleek Original palette) on the browbone to highlight.
- Using a pencil blush, apply a black shade (I used the one in the Sleek Original palette) on the outer V. Now, take a blending brush and using circular motion blend the eyeshadow into the pink to soften the edges.
- Line your upper lid and your lower lashline with a gold eyeliner (I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Eldorado) and apply mascara.
- On your face, apply your usual foundation (I used YSL Teint Singulier Sheer Powdercreme Veil Foundation in no.5) and then concealer (I used Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Porcelain) to cover dark circles or any other imperfection you may have.

Are you ready for the second part of our holiday gift guide 2010? This time, it is dedicated to teens. So, I looked for basic products every teen needs to get started like good brushes and primers, pretty palettes with lots of colors to experiment and nice skincare sets. In addition, most of these products have really cute and fun packaging and are not too expensive. Let’s get started:

Hello ladies,

today I want to show you a pink look I did using the latest Sleek LE palette, Good Girl. Pink is one of my fave colors but because pink eyeshadows are usually poorly pigmented and I get so frustrated when after several layers they barely show up on my lids, I rarely use it on the eyes. Well, that’s all changed now cos the pinks in this palette have great color payoff and are so easy to apply and blend so I’ll be wearing pinks a lot more in the future.

As for today’s look, I paired pinks with blue to add a playful touch to the eyes. I used the deep and vibrant blue in the Sleek Circus palette, which is one of the prettiest blues I’ve ever seen and it’s worth buying the palette just for that color alone. But if you feel you can’t pull off blue, then you can just use any other color you want, like purple, brown or just nothing at all.

I’d better stop talking now and show you the look. I hope you’ll like it.

- Layla Lash Art mascara in black

Directions:
- Start by applying an eyeshadow primer to your eyes. I used NYX Eyeshadow Base in White as the white color would really make the eyeshadows pop. And it helps keeping them in place for longer too.
– Apply Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy (if you don’t have, you can skip this step) on the lid to make the colors really pop.
- Apply a medium pink shade (I used Candy Floss in the Sleek Good Girl palette) on the lid.
- Sweep a raspberry hot pink (I used Pink Punch in the Sleek Good Girl palette) on the crease.
- Apply a very pale pink shade (I used Lychee in the Sleek Good Girl palette) on browbone to highlight.
- Apply a deep, bright navy blue (I used the one in the Sleek Chaos palette) on the outer crease area and blend. Sweep the same shade on the lower lashline.
- Now, sweep a pale lavender shade (I used Formula D eyeshadow in Belle) on the inner corners of the eyes to open them up a bit.
- Line your upper lid with black eyeliner (I used Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24H in Black) and apply mascara.
- On your face, apply your usual foundation (I used YSL Teint Singulier Sheer Powdercreme Veil Foundation in no.5) and then concealer (I used Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Porcelain) to cover dark circles or any other imperfection you may have.
- Sweep a pink blush (I used the Pupa Luminys in Pink from their spring 2009 collection) on the cheeks and highlight the cheekbones, middle of the nose and chin with a white highlighter (I used the white shade in the Wet n Wild Cover All Concealer Palette).
- Apply a semi-opaque bright pink gloss ( I used Barry M Lip Gloss Wands in Bubblegum Pink) on your lips. You’re done!

OMG Barry M has just released some eyeshadow palettes! Yay! I’m so excited about this. I’m a huge fan of their Dazzle Dusts as they come in lots of beautiful, pigmented shades but being in loose form, which can make application a bit messy, I think some people may be put off from trying them.

Well, now that’s not a problem anymore as these new eyeshadow palettes come in pressed form, which are more practical. So far, there are 8 color combinations available, in both natural, smokey and bright, colorful shades, so everyone will be able to find something they love. Here’s what you can choose from:

Delicious Diva: pale pink, bright pink and brown
Divine Destiny: cream, green and grey
Golden Goddess: shimmering neutral cream, bronze & brown
Lavender Lullaby: subtle cream, lavender and mauve
Paradise Passion: vivid blue, yellow and purple
Pretty Pastels: soft pink, lilac and sky blue
Smoky Seduction: pale grey, light grey and dark grey
Tasty Tropics: vibrant lime green, citrus orange and cobalt blue

Can you guess which ones are my favourites? Yep, Tasty Tropic and Paradise Passion appeal to me the most, but I’m loving the others as well. Barry M says these eyeshadows are highly pigmented, soft, creamy and longlasting. If you’re interested (how could you not be?!) they are already available on Barry M website for only £5.95.

Name: Nail Paint in Pink Flamingo
Brand: Barry M
Size: 10ml
Price: £2.95

From Barry M’s website:
Choose from over 50 different shades, Covering the whole colour spectrum-from pure white to decadent red. There are metallic pearls, matts and shimmering finishes to suit every mood and taste. All Nail Paints are in a quick-drying base suitable for natural or acrylic nails. We always recommend the use a basecoat before applying any coloured Nail Paint.

What I liked:
- available in lots of colors in different finishes
- good color payoff
- creamy formula, not streaky
- shiny finish
- lasts a few days with a good top coat
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- can stain nails if you don’t use a good base coat
- some may think it isn’t longlasting enough as it lasts 4 days with a top coat

You all know how much I like Barry M products. They come in so many beautiful colors, are good quality but inexpensive and the Nail Paints are no exception. There are more than 50 different shades, in pearl, matte and shimmery finishes, to choose from, and they only cost £2.95! Today I want to talk about one of my favourite nail polish shades ever. It’s from Barry M (obviously lol) and it’s called Pink Flamingo.

Pink Flamingo is a beautiful bright pink shade with coral undertones and a shiny finish that is perfect for summer. It’s looks almost neon, but not quite. Overall, it is a very unique shade and despite being a sucker for pink polishes, I have never seen nor own anything that looks like it. It’s definitely one of the colors that I wear more often on my nails as I just can’t get enough of it. It’s a truly stunning and summery color!

The formula is lovely too. Its creamy consistency applies easily and smoothly without streaking and having good color payoff, two coats are more than enough to get the same color as it looks in the bottle. Plus, it dries quite quickly too so you don’t have to wait ages before you can start using your hands again.

As for the staying power, if you use a good top coat, you’ll get at least 4 days of wear with this polish. After that, it starts to chip for me. Also, keep in mind that I’m very hard with my nails: I type a lot, I wash my hands a lot, do housework and generally can’t keep them still. So I’d say that if you’re gentler with your hands than I am, Pink Flamingo may last longer on you.

Now, the bad. Because Pink Flamingo is so pigmented and bright, it could stain your nails if you don’t use a good base coat underneath, as recommended by Barry M on their website. As I mentioned above, I use this shade a lot with a cheap base coat from L’Oreal underneath and it has never stained my nails. Unfotunately poor Rowena from Cosmetic Candy wasn’t so lucky. Still, I think that if you use it with the right base coat, you’ll love this shade as it is truly gorgeous and with a really lovely formula.

Available at: Barrym.com and Asos.com

Summary
I’m in love with Barry M Nail Paint in Pink Flamingo. A vibrant coralish pink with a shiny finish, it’s one of the most beautiful colors I have ever seen. Quite pigmented (2 coats are enough), the formula applies like a dream and the polish lasts about 4 days with a top coat. However, you need to use a good base coat underneath this or it may stain your nails.
