High-end mascara samples are evil.
They get you all excited about trying a little luxury without spending a penny. But, before you know it, you’re wondering if it’s worth selling your kidney for a year’s supply of the stuff.
At least, that’s what happened when I tried Giorgio Armani Black Ecstasy. With a couple of swipes, the black, lightweight formula delivered super long, somewhat thick, nicely curled lashes. They almost looked fake.
I say almost because Pupa Vamp! Mascara ruined every other mascara for me. That’s the most volumizing mascara I’ve ever tried, and delivers some serious drama. Black Ecstasy, in comparison, is less volumizing, but looks more natural, so it’s more suitable for daily wear.
I wouldn’t wear Vamp! at the office, but Black Ecstasy works there too. It creates an intense gaze that’ll burn a hole into those malicious colleagues that are always trying to sabotage you…
The wand is unremarkably effective. It’s neither too thin, nor too thick, nor weirdly shaped. But, it does its job just fine, coating every lash with an intense black pigment that doesn’t weight lashes down.
But, as much as I like Black Ecstasy, I won’t be selling my kidney for it just yet. It makes my lashes look amazing – fresh and sexy and a bit dramatic – but it also flakes. After 5 hours some of the mascara has transferred underneath my eyes. After 8, I start resembling a raccoon. *sighs*
But hey, at least that means this stuff is easy to remove. No need to tug all night to get every last bit off. See, every cloud has its silver lining.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Pros: Lengthens, thickens, and curls lashes; Intense black colour; Cylindrical wand easily reaches every lash; Lightweight, doesn’t weight lashes down.
Cons: Starts to flake and smudge after a few hours.
Summary: Giorgio Armani Black Ecstasy Mascara lengthens, thickens, and curls lashes, giving your eyes an intense, sexy look. Sadly, it also turns you into a raccoon within a few hours.
