Name: 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Corrupt
Brand: Urban Decay
From Urban Decay’s website:
Never before has a pencil this creamy and brilliant been waterproof, too. Velvety-soft, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge.
What I liked:
– cool-toned brown with shimmers, defines eyes without looking flat
– great colour payoff
– glides oh so smoothly on the lids
– longlasting, even on the waterline
What I didn’t like:
– smudges slightly after 8 hours of wear
– needs sharpening
Urban Decay Glide-On Eye Pencils are one of those products I never get tired of reviewing. I could wax lyrical about them for the whole day, or month, or year. And no, no one is paying me to do so. I just want to.
The latest shade to catch my eye, and my heart, is Corrupt. A dark brown shade with a cool undertone and multi-coloured sparkle, Corrupt is a great alternative to black.
The dark colour defines the eyes perfectly without looking as harsh, and the sparkling particles prevent it from looking flat. Yet, they are subtle enough to allow you to wear it during the day too (unless you work in an office where they’re super-strict with makeup).
For cool-toned ladies, Corrupt is also a better option than Whiskey. Whiskey is one of my fave brown eyeliners ever, but it is very warm toned, which doesn’t suit everyone. It is also a matte and a bit lighter, so it provides a softer look.
What the two have in common is outstanding pigmentation. You just have to glide the pencil over your lids once, and it straight away deposits an opaque line of colour. And so gently, there’s no need to tug and pull either. Corrupt is as soft and creamy as butter.
All the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils I have tried are very longlasting. Corrupt doesn’t disappoint in this either.
It gives me about 30 seconds to bled it for that smokier, even messier, look. But, after that, it stays put where I apply it for about 8 hours. Only then, it starts smudging so subtly just at the corners of my eyes.
It lasts three or four hours on the waterline as well. This is one of the main reasons why I keep coming back to it (and all Ud pencils). With most pencils out there, you shouldn’t even bother to add colour to your waterline. 10 seconds later it has already disappeared.
Corrupt lasts a lot longer. Sure, it needs to be retouched throughout the day, but not as often. Me likes that. Don’t you?
My only “problem” is the price. At £15.50 these pencils aren’t economical, especially because they need to be sharpened, which, inevitably, causes some waste.
But their formula is so wonderful and easy to use, they are worth the splurge. At least for shades like Corrupt, which makes a good everyday staple.
But if you’re still not convinced, you can always wait for the holidays and buy one of the sets UD releases every year. I can’t guarantee Corrupt will be in this year’s set, but you’ll have the chance to try several shades without breaking the bank.
But be warned, they’ll corrupt you too.
