Name: Elvive Smooth & Polish Conditioner
Brand: L’Oreal Paris
From L’Oreal’s website:
Elvive Smooth & Polish Conditioner is a hair care product specifically designed for fine to normal hair. Enriched with Keratin-Polish [KP] technology the formula helps to smooth wisps and flyaways strand by strand, leaving hair looking perfectly polished.
What I liked:
- creamy consistency, spreads easily
- moisturizes hair, leaving it soft
- makes hair shiny
- prevents flyaways
What I didn’t like:
- doesn’t detangle hair very well
If there’s one beauty product I’m religiously faithful to is my conditioner. L’Oreal Elvive Nutri Gloss Conditioner has served me very well for years, and I have no intention to dump it. Not willingly, anyway. But last time I went to the supermarket, my HG conditioner was nowhere to be seen, so I had to purchase something else.
My choice fell upon the new L’Oreal Elvive Smooth & Polish Perfecting Conditioner. Formulated for fine to normal hair, it promises to reduce flyaways and impart lots of shine. Now, my hair is oily, but also very fine, and who wouldn’t want lots of shine?
Packaged in a soft pink bottle, the conditioner has a subtle, generic, fresh scent and a creamy consistency that spreads easily on the hair. Once every strand is coated, I rinse it off and let my hair air dry. The result? My hair is soft to the touch, fairly moisturized, and very shiny. No flyaways either.
Its moisturizing properties are due to palm oil, which can lubricate hair, making it soft and smooth. Although Virgin Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Oil can penetrate hair, it’s unclear how well the type of oil used here (Elaeis Guineensis oil / Palm Oil) can do the same. Even if doesn’t, it’ll still help to make your hair look good.
The conditioner also includes Cetyl Alcohol, which makes the conditioner spread easily and imparts a soft feel to hair; Behentrimonium Chloride, which has a waxy texture that prevents flyaways but also helps condition hair; and Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, an anti-static agent with luminescent properties.
Although the conditioner does its job well, I have no intention to switch permanently to it. Why? Because my fine hair is very prone to tangling, and I have to apply quite a lot of product to allow the comb to glide smoothly through all that knotty mess. With the Nutri Gloss Conditioner, instead, a small amount does the trick quickly and effectively.
L’Oreal Paris Elvive Smooth & Polish Conditioner has a creamy and moisturizing consistency that makes hair soft and shiny. It also smooths flyaways. However, it didn’t detangle my knotty hair very well.
