Name: Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout
From Revlon’s website:
- Exclusive LiquiSilk™ formula with mega-moisturizers seals in color and softness
- Silky-smooth, creamy texture
- Stay true color wears evenly
What I liked:
- good colour payoff
- creamy texture, glides smoothly on the lips
- good staying power
- the price
What I didn’t like:
- if you have very pigmented lips, you may have to apply a few swipes
- this cool-toned shade is not very flattering on warm-toned girls
- texture accentuates flaws if lips aren’t properly prepped
- starts to feel a bit dry on the lips after a while
Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick is said to be one of the best matte lipstick formulas available at the drugstore. Thanks to my friend Janessa, I was able to put it to the test. Did it pass it with flying colours, or is this just another hyped-up lipstick?
Janessa sent me Pink Pout, a beautiful cool-toned nude pink with subtle lavender undertones that looks very flattering on cool-toned ladies. Those with warm undertones, on the other hand, may find it difficult to pull off. It is supposed to be an almost exact dupe for MAC Snob, but I don’t have the latter so I can’t do a comparison.
Colour payoff is ok. Pink Pout isn’t so subtle you can hardly see it, but it’s not so bright to scream for attention (although, if you have very pigmented lips, you may have to apply a few swipes to get the colour to show up properly). It’s one of those pigmented but soft shades that can be worn on any occasion, and is particularly flattering with a dark smokey eye or purple eye look.
Although Pink Pout has a creamier texture than most drugstore matte lipsticks which allows it to glide smoothly on the lips, it still accentuates flaws. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable when first applied, but, after an hour or so, my lips start to feel a bit dry. Luckily, both these issues can be easily fixed by prepping your pout with lip balm before application.
I was impressed, though. I expected it to be a lot more drying. For the price, the texture’s not that bad. And it is longlasting. I get about three and a half hours of wear from Pink Pout. If I don’t eat, that is. Well, it can withstand a light snack, but not a proper meal.
The packaging is nothing special. Pink Pout is housed in a black and silver tube that’s neither chic nor cheap. It’s just ok. But it is practical. The top of the cap is see-through, allowing you to easily locate the shade you’re looking for in your stash.
I’m not sure this is the best matte lipstick range you can find at the drugstore, but it is still worth checking out if you’re on a budget.
Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout is a pigmented but soft cool-toned nude pink shade that looks very flattering on cool-skinned ladies. However, if you have pigmented lips, you may have to layer it. The creamy texture glides smoothly on the lips, but accentuates flaws and starts to feel a bit drying after a while. Staying power is good.
