What I didn’t like:
- some people may find this scent too sweet

I love the smell of coconut, and yet I’m always hesitant to try a fragrance that contains this exotic note. When done right, it provides a creamy and fresh vibe to the composition. But when done wrong, it adds a sickening sweetness that overpowers everything else. And yet, when I was browsing the Haus Of Gloi website to choose what Pumpkin Butter to try next, it was one with a coconut scent that caught my interest.

Litchi Milk Tea is described as “tart lychee fruit and black tea met with a splash of coconut milk”. Now, doesn’t that sound inviting? Plus, this is Haus Of Gloi, a brand famous for its complex, original and well-crafted scents. And if you still need convincing, well, you can always order a sample, and see how you like it. A lot of women will fall in love with it straight away.

I, on the other hand, needed to get better acquainted with it to fully appreciate it. You see, when I first slathered Litchi Milk Tea on my skin, all I smelt was a strong and sweet fruity floral scent. More fruity than floral actually. The tarty sweetness of lichee, enriched by a big dollop of coconut milk, dominates the fragrances, while the floral accents rest in the background.

At this point, the fragrance reminded me one of one of those cheap, overly sweet designer scents that you can smell anywhere these days. I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointed I was. But when black tea makes its appearance, things change. The fragrance remains sweet, but it’s now a tea-like sweetness. As for the coconut, only whiffs of it remain.

Overall, Litchi Milk Tea is a lovely scent. It’s not something I’d recommend to those who, like me, love opulent and decadent scent (Depravity would be a much better choice in that case). But if you’re looking for something sweet and feminine, this is a great option. Like all Haus Of Gloi scents, this one too stays around for more than 24 hours.

The Pumpkin Butter itself is a godsend for dry skin. Its rich texture sinks in quickly, leaving even the driest of skin soft and smooth for hours. Its moisturizing properties are derived from shea butter, which can prevent water loss and improve skin barrier function, and pumpkin seed oil, an antioxidant rich in carotenoids and Vitamin E. And no, it doesn’t leave an oily residue behind. Oh, and because you need so little for each application, even the smaller sample size will last you for ages.

    • Makeup Morsels, I wish so too. It’s a shame cos the rest of the fragrance is beautiful. And you can’t fault the formula of the Pumpkin Butter, it’s simply amazing!
