2014 promises to be a very exciting year for all makeup fans. Two designers, Gucci and Marc Jacobs, have decided to venture into beauty territory (and finally, may I add!) and release their own makeup lines.
Gucci already has a licensing contract with Procter & Gamble Co.’s Prestige division with whom has created several very popular fragrances, including Gucci Guilty and Gucci Premiere. Now, the two giants are working together to develop a makeup line as well. No details are as yet available, but, if Gucci remains true to its aesthetic, we can expect smokey shades for the eyes and intense hues for the lips, all housed in a simple but sophisticated packaging.
Marc Jacobs, on the other hand, has a more youthful, grungy and distinct aesthetic, so we can expect something more playful but still elegant. The line is set to hit stores in the spring and will include, as you can see from the photo above, an eyeshadow palette featuring seven colourful shades, an intense red gloss, a bright pink blush and foundation. I’m not too impressed by the packaging (I really hope they will tweak it before the launch), but the shades look interesting and I can’t wait to see what else Jacobs has in store for us.
While we’re waiting, we can satisfy our makeup cravings with the new Butter London Bespoke Colour Cosmetics. The brand has already tested the beauty waters with its iconic nail polishes and matching lipglosses, and has now decided to bring out an entire collection. It will feature bright and intense shades and will be released in the USA in August. Hopefully the rest of the world won’t have to wait long to get it as well.
What do you think of these new makeup lines? Are you excited?
