Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.77

Hello everyone,

here are this week’s random ramblings:

As If We’ve Never Said Goodbye – Sunset Boulevard

Since I’m obsessed with musicals lately, I thought I’d share one of my favourites with you. It’s Sunset Boulevard by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Well, actually the musical is based on the 1950 film of the same title, and tells the story of Norma Desmond, a faded star of the silent screen era. When she meets young screenwriter Joe Gillis, she believes that, with his help, she’ll finally be able to make a comeback on the big screen. It’s a great story. It’s got love, betrayal, disappointed hopes and dreams, murder, wonderful songs… My favourite is As If We’ve Never Said Goodbye, sang in the clip above by Barbra Streisand. Enjoy!

What I’m Reading Now

the merry adventures of robin hood howard pyle
The Merry Adventures Of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle. Who isn’t familiar with Robin Hood, the famous Medieval English outlaw who stole from the rich to give to the poor? I lost count of how many times I watched the Disney movie as a child. Now, I’ve revisited this tale and, thanks to Howard Pyle, I’ve finally become familiar with its missing pieces. This novels explains how Robin Hood became an outlaw, how Little John, Friar Tuck and Alan-A-Dale joined his band and what deeds they accomplished together. These tales are all quite funny, but there’s one that’s also very sad: Robin’s death. I don’t think he died as he deserved, which spoiled the book just a little for me. Also, there are no tales featuring Maid Marian, so if you’re looking for romance, you won’t find it here. But if you want to know more about Robin Hood (the fictional character), this is a great place to start.

Sunday Survey, Vol.156

1. Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise birthday party?
Nope, and I’m not sure I would like it lol. I prefer to organize my parties myself.

2. Do you correct any of your facial features?
I only contour my nose, which I think is too big even though no one else seems to agree, on special occasions.

3. Are you watching anything on TV right now?
Nope. I’m in my bedroom now and although I have a TV here, I almost never watch it. I find it distracting when I’m blogging.

4. Mineral water: still or sparkling?
Still, please.

5. Do you think it’s ok to wear a light scarf in the summer?
Yes. Scarves are always a great way to accessorize an outfit. But in the summer, I use a light one only in the evenings.

    1. Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise birthday party? Nope, never! Although I think I would liked it as child, but now is too late. :)
    2. Do you correct any of your facial features? No again.
    3. Are you watching anything on TV right now? I almost never watch TV. Rarely, I go sit in the living room and open the TV and watch something random, but I tired of all the scandals and reality shows, I feel like the bring me negative energy. I don’t know how are the programs in other countries but here is a win win situation if I don’t look at TV at all. :)
    4. Mineral water: still or sparkling? Always Still! :)
    5. Do you think it’s ok to wear a light scarf in the summer? I think it’s OK but I can’t stand anything around my neck in the summer so I don’t wear it. I’ve seen other girls accessorizing their outfits with a light scarf and it looks nice but it’s not for me.

Tavia, TV shows suck here too. I hate all those reality shows too, they are so full of (fake) drama, fights and scandals and it’s all so negative. It’s much better to stay away from it all. These days, I watch TV mostly when I eat, and it’s usually some TV show like Glee or The Big Bang Theory.

    1. Not that I can remember and it’s not something I miss.
    2. Yes a little under my chin.
    3. No. Between the re-runs and the stupid reality tv there is nothing worthy to watch.
    4. Still, always! :)
    5. It is but I don’t unless it’s a cool windy day. On hot days I can’t stand anything around my neck and often wonder how anyone can. :/

Icaria, I often feel like there is nothing worth watching on TV these days. I watch a few series while I’m eating to keep me company as I often have lunch alone, but that’s pretty much it. Besides, now that’s summer, it’s all re-runs, re-runs, re-runs. So annoying.

Icaria, it really is. The History Channel used to be so good, but now, the rare times they show a documentary, it’s full of sensational but inaccurate claims. It is so disappointing. At least the BBC still does some great documentaries and historical movies/series but I can see those only on youtube and they don’t always end up there.

ohh haven’t done one of these in awhile :D

    1. Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise birthday party?
Nope haha, and I’m the same as you as far as those are concerned. It’s so much fun to plan parties!
    2. Do you correct any of your facial features?
I have one monolid and one lid that’s folded closer to the socket line, so I have to apply shadow and liner a little differently to make them look more even.
    3. Are you watching anything on TV right now?
mm Masterchef haha. And rewatching BBC Sherlock cuz it never gets old.
    4. Mineral water: still or sparkling?
    Still.
    5. Do you think it’s ok to wear a light scarf in the summer?
    Definitely! Just bought one today.

Makeup Morsels, I agree. It takes away half the fun when other people plan the party for you, doesn’t it?
