QOTW: Are There Any Brands You’re Not Interested In Trying?

beauty brand not interested in trying

Are there any brands you’re not interested in trying?

My answer: Lime Crime. Their products are intriguing, but their business ethics are horrible. Also, brands who make only eyelash growth serums or self-tanning products, as I’m just not interested in them.

  1. I’m not really interested in many organic certified brands as their formulas can be quite disgusting (still, I love the idea, and use many bio stuff). Also, mineral brands should make something about their being so uneventful sometimes. And also, brands that only make those transparent pot eyeshadows… :D

    • Eli, a lot of mineral brands are very boring indeed. It’s a shame because that doesn’t make you want to try their products, which may be very good. And even though I too like the idea of organic products, their textures aren’t often very nice. After all, there’s only so much you can with only natural ingredients.

  2. Ditto Lime Crime. Also Ciate because a year ago they were sending cease & desist emails to bloggers who were posting caviar manicures — they stated that they had copyrighted the term, even though they weren’t even the ones who invented the look.

    • Eight, I had forgotten about Ciate. I won’t buy from them either for the same reason. I may have felt differently if they had invented this particular manicure, but copyrighting someone else’s work and then sending bloggers cease and desist emails is despicable.

  3. Ditto Lime Crime here too, they seem quite expensive and not amazingly unique – eyeliner aside. I’m not hugely eager to try any of the designer makeup lines like Dior and Chanel either. I’m too cheap for all that when I can get similar stuff from the highstreet or indie companies.

    • Katie, Lime Crime are very overpriced, which is one of the many reasons I don’t buy from them. I think some high-end items are worth their price, but if you want something unique, indie is the way to go. Besides, a lot of drugstore brands have upped their game in recent years so it’s becoming easier to find great dupes of pricier products.

  4. I had to look up Lime Crime since I’ve never heard of them. For me it’s more skin care. For example Josie Maran’s Argan oil which you can get at a fraction of the cost or Tarte’s Maracuja oil which is passion fruit oil, it too can be purchased for less. “Natural” and “Organic” don’t attract me much either. Ciaté I didn’t know about so I’m glad I don’t own any of their n/p. :)

    • Icaria, I agree about overpriced high-end skincare items. Very often, you can get the exact same thing at a much cheaper price.

    • K, I feel exactly the same. I doubt most of those bloggers would support Limecrime if they knew the truth, and what’s even more sad is that, despite all the criticism and uproar, they haven’t changed their unethical business practices yet. *sighs*
