Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.66

Hello everyone,

it’s Sunday again. Can you believe it? Time flies so fast, doesn’t it? And it’s already now time for some random ramblings:

Hurt Lovers

This week, I’ve been reminiscing with a friend about the boybands we used to love when we were teenagers. One of my favourites was Blue and since they have recently got back together and released a new single, Hurt Lovers, I though I’d share the video with you. What boybands did/do you like?

What I’m Reading Now

I'd know you anywhere laura lippman
I’d Know You Anywhere by Laura Lippman. Eliza Benedict leads a very ordinary life in the suburbs with her husband and two children when, one day, she receives a letter from the last person she expects to hear from: Walter Bawman, the man who kidnapped her, raped her and held her hostage for weeks when she was 15. Now, more than 20 years later, Bowman, who has also raped and murdered other young girls, has been condemned to die. He claims he wants her forgiveness, when instead he wants her to help him save his life. Eliza decides to write him back because she needs to know why he killed all the other girls but not her and hopes he will confess to her the truth about the other victims. This is supposed to be a suspense novel, but there really isn’t any suspense at all and even the big secret that’s supposed to be revealed at the end is very disappointing. The book is well-written and poses some interesting questions (how would we act if something like this happened to us; how would it affect our family; is the death penalty right or wrong?) but fails to keep the reader interested. I was also surprised to find out that I didn’t really feel any particular emotion towards any of the characters, not even the victims. They’re just not that interesting and it’s hard to care for them. Overall, I’d recommend this book only to Lippman fans.

Sunday Survey, Vol.145

1. Who was the last person you danced with?
My boyfriend. We impromtu danced while listening to the radio last week.

2. A beauty don’t that you do?
I rarely line my waterline. Dark colours are a no-no there as they would make my small eyes look much smaller, and anyway it’s hard to find an eyeliner that lasts for more than 10 minutes on the waterline.

3. What lip balm are you using at the moment?
Labrosan Emolliente con Burro di Karitè, a moisturizing lip balm with Shea Butter. So far, it’s ok.

4. Fiction or non-fiction?
Maybe it’s because I’ve read a lot of really bad novels, but these days I prefer non-fiction. At least, even when these books are boring, you’re still learning something anyway.

5. Do you like riding boots?
Yes, I think they’re sleek, elegant and beautiful.

It’s your turn now?
1. Who was the last person you danced with?
2. A beauty don’t that you do?
3. What lip balm are you using at the moment?
4. Fiction or non-fiction?
5. Do you like riding boots?

  1. 1. Who was the last person you danced with?
Don’t remember! Well, certainly one of the children as my other half doesn’t dance – ever!
    2. A beauty don’t that you do?
I don’t use bronzer – too pale really, and not worried about it :)
    3. What lip balm are you using at the moment?
A gorgeous Spanish lip balm – well, the tin is gorgeous anyway :) It’s ‘flavour’ is Red Currant – which is also amazing!
    4. Fiction or non-fiction?
A healthy mix I think – though I don’t get so much time to read at the moment. I probably spend most time that I have for reading on newspapers.
    5. Do you like riding boots?
Fairly neutral – don’t particularly like boots at all.

  3. Blooming Heck, Blue got back together?! I think S-Club 7 did recently as well, though apparently the result was not pretty!

    1. Who was the last person you danced with?
um. I’d assume my boyfriend, but to be honest it’s been a long time since I danced!
    2. A beauty don’t that you do?
I don’t contour and highlight, or really wear foundation much.
    3. What lip balm are you using at the moment?
I have Nivea Lip Butter in Caramel at home, and a novelty Berry Crocker Caramel Frosting flavoured one for when I’m out and about and don’t want to take my gloves off.
    4. Fiction or non-fiction?
Like them both depending on the topic =P. I refuse to choose between (though I don’t read nearly enough these days =()
    5. Do you like riding boots?
I think I do, although I do get confused when I see people in white or tan pants and riding boots, because I assume they’ve actually been horse riding when 90% of the time they haven’t!

    • Katie, yep. It seems like everyone is getting back together lately, isn’t it? I think Blue’s new song is nice, but other bands have had their heyday and should be happy with that imo.

    2. A beauty don’t that you do? I can’t think of anything right now.
    3. What lip balm are you using at the moment? I have so many and I use them all: RBR, Fresh and L’Occitane, to name a few.
    4. Fiction or non-fiction? I like both if it’s well written.
    5. Do you like riding boots? yes, I do.

    • Marina, I agree. If a book is well-written, then the genre doesn’t really matter, you’ll enjoy it. :)
