Name: I-Divine Lagoon Eyeshadow Palette
Brand: Sleek Makeup
From the press release:
The pigment packed Lagoon i-Divine eye shadow palette boasts 12 shades that pop on all skin tones, with colours inspired by legendary tales of mermaids! Including 9 shimmer shades and 3 matte shades, Lagoon i-Divine holds the key colours to be seen in this spring.
What I liked:
– nice mix of wearable bright and neutral shades
– although a lot of the shades are cool-toned, there are enough that would suit warm-toned gals too
– shades are pigmented, soft to the touch and easy to blend
– shades last long when primed
– sleek and beautiful packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– Night Sky is sheer and chalky
– the shades produce a small amount of fallout
Spring is all about bright shades, but not everyone is confident enough to wear them, preferring to stick to safer neutral hues. This spring, Sleek Makeup comes to the rescue with Lagoon, a brand new palette of wearable bright colours sprinkled with some neutral shades for good measure. Part of their Aqua collection, at first glance, this aquatic-inspired palette seem to be very cool-toned, but there are enough neutral and warm shades in it to look good on warm-toned ladies as well.
The colorful shades are quite deceiving too. In the pans, they look very bright and intense, but on the lids, they provide a wearable and delicate pop of colour that’s not too bold. You could easily wear most of these shades during the day, maybe at a pool party. Doesn’t the colour combination evoke a day at a pool or, even better, on some tropical beach? Let’s take a closer look at the shades, shall we?
Sassea: aqua green/blue shade with gold shimmer.
Deep Water: dark, matte grape purple.
Reflection: pale shimmery lilac.
Emerald: light emerald green.
Oyster: off white pearl shade, perfect for highlighting the browbone.
Black Pearl: shimmery black; it swatched quite sheerly with fingers, but when used with a brush, it’s actually very pigmented so use it sparingly.
Pink Jewel: my favourite shade, it is a rosy pink with gold shimmer.
Sand Dollar: warm yellow gold.
Underworld: medium aqua blue with gold shimmer; it’s bluer than Sassea.
Sea Shell: copper bronze
Night Sky: medium matte purple; sheer and not very easy to work with, it’s the dud in the palette.
Ariel: matte coral red inspired by Ariel’s hair; it could be used as a blush too.
As it is always the case with Sleek Makeup eyeshadows, the nine shimmery/metallic shades are more pigmented, softer and easier to work with than the matte hues. But although sheerer and a little harder in texture, only Night Sky out of the three matte shades in the palette is a pain to work with. Still, one dud out of twelve is not bad at all. All the shades also last for more than 8 hours when used with a primer.
The only problem I had is that most of the shades produce a small amount of fallout. But overall, I think this palette is great value for money. It’s actually one of my favourite palettes from Sleek Makeup because of the beautiful and versatile mix of wearable bright and neutral shades it features.
Available at: sleekmakeup.com and Superdrug stores throughout the UK, from March 13th
The aquatic-inspired Sleek Makeup I-Divine Lagoon eyeshadow palette features a mix of wearable bright and neutral shades that allows you to create a variety of looks that will flatter both cool and warm toned ladies. All the shades, with the exception of Night Sky, are pigmented, soft to the touch and easy to blend (the matte ones slightly less so than the metallic/shimmery hues), but produce a small amount of fallout.
