Name: Intense Eyeshadow Trio in Pink Nuances
Brand: Bottega Verde
Price: €14,99

From Bottega Verde’s website:
A trio of pearly, coordinating eyeshadows. They can be applied dry, for a natural and satiny look, or wet, for a very sparkling and vibrant effect.

What I liked:
– can be applied dry for subtle daily looks, or wet for vibrant, sparkling evening looks
– good colour payoff
– easy to blend
– good staying power when used with a primer
– often on sale

What I didn’t like:
– texture is very powdery
– some people may find them too sheer when applied dry
– without a primer, the eyeshadows don’t last long

Some products have misleading names. Bottega Verde Intense Eyeshadow Trio in Pink Nuances is one of them. As hard as I look, I don’t really see much pink in it. There are some hints of it, but it’s purple the real star here. The simple, round palette houses a bright purplish pink with violet shimmers, a medium lilac with silver shimmers and a medium brown with purple undertones and multi-coloured shimmers.

All the shades have good colour payoff but, when used dry and with a brush, they just don’t translate that well on the lid, providing only a luminous hint of colour. Because of how subtle it is, this look could easily be worn during the day and even at work (unless you work in a very conservative environment where even the subtlest hint of colourful eyeshadow is banned).

But if, like me, you prefer a more intense pop of colour, you’ll have to be apply these eyeshadows wet. Then, the pigmentation really shine. And so do the shimmers. The result is a vibrant, sparkling look that’s more suitable for a night out. Plus, when applied wet, fallout is greatly reduced. These eyeshadows are very powdery and quite messy to apply, if you’re not careful.

The texture isn’t particularly soft either, which may be due to the shimmers, but it is easy to blend. And what about the staying power? Applied over a good eyeshadow primer, such as Too Faced Shadow Insurance, they will start to fade after about 8 hours of wear. On their own, though, they last a lot less…

Bottega Verde Intense Eyeshadow Trio in Pink Nuances features three purplish and shimmering shades that can be used dry for a subtle and wearable daytime look, or wet for a vibrant, sparkling, nighttime look. The texture is very powdery and not very soft to the touch, but is nonetheless easy to blend. Staying power is good if used with a primer.

Rating: 3.5/5

I’m not fond of packaging with room for applicators since I remove them and store them elsewhere. I wish there were a way to depot baked products :D. I like seeing brands I’ve never known of before.

Janessa, I agree. They may just as well stop putting applicators in palettes as they are almost always useless. :)
