What it is
Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, also known as Argireline, is a synthetically derived peptide manufactured by Spanish company Lipotec. It is often advertised as Botox in a jar.

What it does
One study has found that Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 can help reduce wrinkles by inhibiting muscle movements. It also seems that this ingredients diffuses, and thus works, better on those who have thinner skin. However, more studies need to be done to confirm these findings and figure out just how well Argireline works.

Side effects
Products with Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 tend to be quite expensive and while this peptide sounds very promising, we know very little of its long-term benefits and potential side effects. If it can really inhibit muscle movements, then it is logical to suppose that it could, if used in very high concentrations over a very prolonged period of time, cause facial sagging.
