Hello everyone,
here’s a look I did with purple and red shades. I threw in a bit of goldish cream too to make it a bit more festive. I really like the look, but not as the pictures have turned out. Unfortunately now that the weather is always dark and gloomy I have to take photos with indoor lightening, which makes the blending looks so much harsher than it is in real life. So frustrating! I’ll work on it and in the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy the look anyway. Let me know what you think of it.
Products used:
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Sleek Makeup I-Divine Storm Eyeshadow Palette
- Sleek Makeup I-Divine Good Girl Eyeshadow Palette
- Black Up Pearl Powder in PP15
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Rockstar
- Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara
- Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint SPF15
- Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer
- Milani Minerals Blush in Luminous
- Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Extravagant Red
Directions:
- Start by applying an eyeshadow primer. This will improve colour payoff as well as preventing your eyeshadows from creasing and fading throughout the day.
- Apply a goldish cream shade (I used the one in the Sleek Makeup Storm Eyeshadow Palette) on the inner half of the lid.
- Apply a dark red shade (I used Morello in the Sleek Makeup Good Girl Eyeshadow Palette) on the outer half of the lid and blend where it meets the cream shade.
- Sweep a shimmering purple shade (I used Black Up Pearl Powder in PP15) on the crease. The shade I used turned into a dark purplish brown once blended. Apply the same shade on the lower lashline too.
- Highlight the browbone with a soft light pink shade (I used Lychee in the Sleek Makeup Good Girl Eyeshadow Palette).
- Apply a deep, reddish purple pencil eyeliner with subtle red shimmers (I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Rockstar) on your upper lashline and then apply mascara on your lashes.
- Apply foundation or tinted moisturizer to even out the skintone and concealer when needed to hide any skin imperfections you may have.
- Apply a peachy pink blush with gold shimmers (I used Milani Minerals Blush in Luminous). This shade is very shimmering, so I skipped the highlighter.
- Apply a warm coral red lipstick (I used Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Extravagant Red) on your lips.

In the pics it looks like all the eyeshadows you used are pearl or shimmery. I would suggest combining them with some mattes and using only one or two pearl/shimmery eyeshadows in one look. For example, you want to wear 3 eyeshadow colours, then use 2 mattes and 1 shimmer. The shimmers will stand out more, and won’t be so overpowering. I would use shimmers on the lid, mattes in the crease and lower lashline. What I really like is the red in your outer corner, it’s pretty bold but still wearable since it’s placed only on a small portion of the eye
Regn, thank you for your feedback. I adore pearly and shimmering eyeshadows, which is why I tend to go overboard with them. Adding matte shades would make the look more elegant I think and I will definitely try it.
Hi Giorgia, very nice, festive and fall appropriate EOTD.. would try out something similar to this soon. I am visiting your blog after such a long time and liking soo many articles out here. Just got busy with my life and was not aware how much fun and information I am missing from this place.

Trisha, thank you!
Wow I love this look. When I think of rockstar, I think of dark makeup and bold eyeliner but this is completely the opposite and beautiful!
Janessa, thank you! That’s the typical rockstar look that comes to mind indeed, but after I did this look, I thought it could be suitable for a rockstar who wanted to try something different too.
Love it! I would never be able to pull off a look like that but I really like it on you. The Morello shade is amazing! How is the Bobbi Brown concealer? I have to replace mine soon. It’s one from M.A.C. and it was too creamy to really stay put. The one I had before (EL) was too drying. Hard to find something in the middle.

Icaria, thanks, I’m glad you like it.
I love the Bobbi Brown concealer, it’s my HG. The consistency is very creamy and moisturizing, but I find that, provided you use a very small amount, it stays put for hours without settling into fine lines. If I want it to last all day, I have to set it with powder though. You can read my review here: http://beautifulwithbrains.com/2011/01/17/product-review-bobbi-brown-creamy-concealer/
Thank you Gio I just read it. Even with powder M.A.C. doesn’t last long. There’s a good chance I’ll try BB next.
