Name: Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose
Brand: Revlon
Size: 4.2g
Price: $6.99

From Revlon’s website:
- Exclusive LiquiSilk™ formula with mega-moisturizers seals in color and softness
- Silky-smooth, creamy texture
- Stay true color wears evenly

What I liked:
- beautiful shade that can be worn with any look
- good colour payoff
- creamy texture, glides on smoothly
- pretty packaging
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- it can look ashy on darker skintones
- if you have dry patches on your lips, this will accentuate them
- poor staying power

Often, drugstore lipsticks come in cheap and tacky tubes. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks don’t. The lipstick bullet is housed in a black and gold tube which is simple, yet beautiful and timeless. The top is see through which means that you’ll be able to quickly spot the shade you’re looking for in your stash.

The shade I have, which was given to me by my lovely reader Janessa, is Primrose. It is a beautiful cool-toned pink shade with purple undertones, which looks very flattering on pale princesses, even those who are warm-toned, but can look ashy on damsels with darker skintones. It’s a shade that can be worn with every look, weather natural, colourful or smokey.

Colour payoff is good. It can be sheered out for a wash of colour or layered for a more intense, bolder look. The texture is quite creamy, allowing the lipstick to glide smoothly on the lips, but it’s not very moisturizing, so I’d recommend you wear lip balm underneath. It is also a good idea to exfoliate before application as Primrose can emphasize any dry patches your lips may have.

But to me, the biggest downside is its staying power, or lack of it. Primrose only lasts about an hour and a half on me, less if I eat, which means that it needs to be frequently reapplied throughout the day. I’m really in love with the shade (it’s so pretty and versatile!) so I don’t mind that too much, especially considering how cheap the price is.

Available at: amazon, target and ulta

Summary
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose is a cool toned pink shade with purple undertones which complements any look, but will make darker skintones look ghastly. Pigmented and creamy, it lacks staying power and can emphasize dry patches.

Rating: 3.5/5

LaDamaBianca, si è un colore molto delicato. Su chi ha labbra pigmentate si vedrebbe poco.

It looks nice on you – but these sort of colours really don’t suit me for some strange reason! Much prefer corals/orange shades. I have tried these, but not for long :)

Viv, thanks. I love coral shades too, they can really warm up the complexion. :)

What a coincidence! I just bought this same lipstick two days ago after watching a rave video on Youtube. I do agree it’s not that great with those who have darker/yellow skin tones…but I found a way to wear it — put on a glossy lip balm and then lightly apply Primrose. It has a very pretty effect and doesn’t make the blue-tones in the pink stand out.

Beauty Box, it’s a lovely shade, isn’t it? And thanks a lot for the useful tip. :)

Oo how pretty! :D Thanks for mentioning me again. :] I’m glad you like the color! If you have any tacky or sticky lipgloss, put some on then blot it off before applying a poor-staying power lipstick. That should help.

Janessa, thanks for sending it to me, it’s a beautiful shade and I love it. And thanks for the tip too. I’ll try it next time I wear Primrose.

Marina, you’re welcome. It’s a lovely shade even if it doesn’t last long on the lips.
