Hello everyone,
ready for some random ramblings? Here we go:
Benefit Go Tropicoral set

Last Tuesday my bf and I went to Modena to see an exhibition of Edward Weston’s works and, on the way back, we stopped at Bologna to catch up with some friends and go to Sephora (well, I had to go to Sephora, he wasn’t too happy about that lol). I was hoping to check out some holiday sets but they haven’t arrived here yet so I opted for one that’s been around for a while: Benefit Go Tropicoral Set (€29,50). I had been wanting to check out the Coralista blush and lipgloss for ages and this just seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. The set also includes mini sizes of High Beam and Cha Cha tint, a brush, a mirror and instructions. I will review the products separately once I’ve had a chance to play with them properly but so far I’m really impressed. The products have good colour payoff and lovely textures, plus the packaging is adorable! What about you? Have you picked up any nice sets lately?
What I’m Reading Now

A Perfect Stranger by Danielle Steel. Whenever I travel I like to bring with me a light read that doesn’t require too much concentration. For my Modena and Bologna trip I picked A Perfect Stranger by Danielle Steel. One evening, Alexander Hale sees a woman crying, but before he can approach her, she runs away. They will meet again on a plane and fall in love. But Raphaella isn’t free. She’s married to a much older man who’s now an invalid and has spent the last years taking care of him. Now she’s torn between love and duty. What will she choose? Like most Danielle Steel’s novels, this is very repetitive and rushed, but I enjoyed it because it made me think about what I would do in the same situation. It’s easy to judge on the outside, but when you’re living in a certain situation, the line between right and wrong tend to get blurred and you realise that, no matter what you do, you will hurt someone. It’s not a deep book or anything like that, it just offers some interesting food for thought.

1. When was the last time you played a musical instrument?
Probably in Junior High School. They were teaching us how to play the flute but I was horrible at it and got so discouraged that I never attempted to play anything else. I do regret that now.
2. Do you fill in your brows?
Only on special occasions. Otherwise I like their shape, they’re not too thin, nor too thick nor too sparse. I pluck the odd stray hair and that’s it usually.
3. What’s for lunch?
Salmon with veggies. Nice and healthy.
4. McDonalds or Pizza Hut?
I don’t like either or them but if I really have to choose I’d go with Pizza Hut as I like pizza more than hamburgers.
5. What do you think of the Chanel n.5 commercial with Brad Pitt?
I think it’s compelling in the sense that it catches my attention and keeps it till the end of the commercial, but honestly, it doesn’t really make me want to buy the fragrance. The ad is a bit pretentious and ridiculous, don’t you think?

I haven’t known about Edward Weston, and his work looks really beautiful.
Hah, that ode is cool
!
(Yay for the Pretty Purple Polish link ^_^ .)
I have no idea if filling my brows would help or worsen them, my beautician says they’re weird.
This blog business is really confusing – spikes appear when I least expect them, and from equally unexpected directions.
I adore an image and that one goes unnoticed while the one that I like but don’t consider that special gets all the likes and rebogs.

Ana, I didn’t know Weston either. My boyfriend, who is a budding photographer, mentioned this exhibition to me and I really enjoyed it. His pictures are beautiful.
That’s one of the most confusing things about blogging. It happens a lot to me too. I write an in-depth, well-researched post and no one cares, but more superficial ones get all the attention. Go figure. It’s hard to know what your readers want and what makes them like a post more than another.
Well, I read your in-depth posts and love them, just so you know
.
Aww thank you! That means a lot to me.
good buy! i am in love with cha-cha tint
it works so much more beautifully than benetint.
1. When was the last time you played a musical instrument?
-more than 15 years ago!
2. Do you fill in your brows?
- only when i have full makeup since my brows aren’t too sparse.
3. What’s for lunch?
the million dollar Q.
-
4. McDonalds or Pizza Hut?
-McD’s anytime!
5. What do you think of the Chanel n.5 commercial with Brad Pitt?

- heart-breaking

Xin, the cha cha tint is lovely indeed. I love the colour and it’s quite longlasting too|
Hooray for you for getting a holiday set! I have only tried Coralista and I wasn’t so hot about it on my skin tone but I am going to try it again if you like it
.
I’m planning to place an order from Sephora. I want to get the Sephora eyeliner kit (UD, MUFE, Kat VD, Stila, BUXOM, Sephora), some Tarina Tarantino (as they are all on sale), and the Benefit set with Sugarbomb. I’m eyeing the Lip Tars set now. This is madness.
I’ll let you know what I end up getting. :]
1. This summer after camp! So many people played music and I was inspired to play piano again. I’ve stopped though.
2. Yes I do fill in my brows because sunscreen tends to make them grey-ish.
3. I had Korean BBQ so a tofu soup and some chicken.
4. Pizza Hut. I will always pick the one that’s not McD haha.
5. The ad made me question whether the female celebrities were classy enough for Chanel and yes, I think they are. Brad Pitt brings down class in my opinion. It doesn’t feel right having him in the ad and I even wondered if it was actually him in the picture. The whole ad just fails because it makes me steer away from that perfume. I have no intentions to even smell it.
Janessa, I haven’t played with Coralista properly yet, but so far my first impressions are positive. I love the warm pop of colour it gives to my cheeks and it’s so easy to apply. Oh, that Sephora set sounds wonderful and definitely get some discounted Tarina Tarantino. That’d be a great deal! Can’t wait to hear what you’ve bought!
I agree that it’s weird to have a man sell a woman’s perfume and that ad doesn’t really make you want to rush out and buy it. But maybe that’s what Chanel wanted, to create some controversy and get people talking about it. In that case, it worked. But whether it’ll sell, is another matter entirely.
1. This past summer when I was home in Malaysia. The piano.
2. Yes
3. today’s lunch…..hmm, may be I’ll boil some wheat berries and eat it with some sour cream.
4. Can’t choose, love both. Pizza hut I guess.
5. Have heard about it but haven’t seen it. But weird?

Oh and I picked up the Clinique BCA Chubby Stick set, and its my first Clinique Chubby Stick in LE color of Plumped Up Pink, a MLBB pink for me. And it comes with a little bright pink pouch.
And a Clarins Extra-Firming Set.

Vonvon, what great sets you picked up. The Clinique Chubby Sticks are lovely!
And the Chanel ad with Brad Pitt is definitely weird…
1. When was the last time you played a musical instrument?
For myself, not since giving up piano aged about fourteen – I was never a keen student, and was happy to give up!
I play the descant recorder a little, most weeks at the moment, as my nine-year-old is learning at school, and she loves it when I play along with her practice
2. Do you fill in your brows?
No. Just pluck out the occasional very straggly hair!
3. What’s for lunch?
I’m bad about lunch – probably a cup of tea.
4. McDonalds or Pizza Hut?
Probably McDonalds – our local Pizza Hut is dreadful, VERY slow service, and then cold food!
5. What do you think of the Chanel n.5 commercial with Brad Pitt?
Haven’t seen it!
Viv x
Viv, how nice to play with your daughter!
And your local Pizza Hut sounds terrible. I can put up with slow service if the food is good, but if it arrives cold.. that’s a no-no.
1. When was the last time you played a musical instrument? Unfortunately, I don’t play anything.

2. Do you fill in your brows? yes, I use a medium eye brow pencil or Anastasia eye brow shadows for blondes)
3. What’s for lunch? I’ve just had a dinner with mashed potatoes, chicken and salad.
4. McDonalds or Pizza Hut? I rarely go to any actually.
5. What do you think of the Chanel n.5 commercial with Brad Pitt? Let’s say that I prefer Audrey Tautou for that ad

Marina, I agree, Audrey Tautou’s ad was much better!
