Hello everyone,

it’s that time of the week again. Yep, time for same random ramblings!

New Bag

I had been looking for a new day bag for quite a while but they were either too big or too small.. I had beginning to give up hope when, a couple of weeks ago, I found this cute brown one at Carpisa. It’s just the right size, and has a couple of compartments inside for your wallet, phone and other bits and bobs so it’s easy for me to find what I’m looking for. And the best part is that it cost only €20! What a bargain! To make it even prettier, I’ve attached a gorgeous bag charm made and given to me by my friend Tine. You can have a better look at it here or check out Tine’s shop Sweet Contemplation Accessories. Isn’t she a very talented lady?

What I’m Reading Now

Henry VIII: The King and His Court by Alison Weir. This book will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Henry VIII’s court: who his courtiers, ministers and members of his households were, what his many palaces looked like, what foods they ate, what sports and games they played, what dances they danced, what clothes they wore and just any details of court life really. Weir also talks about Henry’s relationships with the people in his life such as his six wives and close friends. The book brings the Tudor court to life, painting vivid images of it and making the reader feel like they were there too. However, because it is very meticulously researched and chock full of interesting details, the style can be quite dry at times. Weir does her best to make all her research as accessible as possible, but at times that’s not enough, which is why I’d recommend this book only to Tudor and history fans.

Sunday Survey, Vol.122

1. Do you have a favourite salad?
I’m not a big fan of salads to be honest. If I have to choose, I’d say a fruit one.

2. Worst face primer?
Deborah 24 Ore Perfect Primer. It just didn’t really do anything for me.

3. What are you wearing on your feet right now?
A pair of cotton red socks and pink slippers.

4. Natural or synthetic makeup brushes?
I own both. For me, it depends on how soft the bristles are and how good the brush performs.

5. What do you think of cape coats?
I don’t like them. They just look weird and don’t seem to keep you very warm either.

It’s your turn now!
1. Do you have a favourite salad?
2. Worst face primer?
3. What are you wearing on your feet right now?
4. Natural or synthetic makeup brushes?
5. What do you think of cape coats?

Gio! How are you my dear? I miss you tons! €20 is a good price for that size of the bag. One thing that I don’t like about big bags is that sometimes I could never find what I’m looking for haha.

1. Do you have a favourite salad? Caprese and Grilled Herb Chicken Salad
2. Worst face primer? Rimmel Primer and Covergirl+Olay Primer
3. What are you wearing on your feet right now? Nike
4. Natural or synthetic makeup brushes? Both, it depends on the products I’m using.
5. What do you think of cape coats? Not for me.

Dee, it’s so nice to hear from you again! I’m fine, thanks, I hope you are too. And I miss you too!

And I know what you mean. I used to have a big bag with no compartments inside and it took me ages to find what I was looking for. lol. This has a couple so that’s not a problem. :)

The bag is really adorable! I haven’t read that one but The Six Wives of Henry VIII which I loved, more like novel than a history book, also by Alyson Weir.
1. Caprese
2. A cheap one by Avon, FX something
3. Black flip flops
4. Both
5. Somehow a picture of Sherlok Holmes popped in my head. I guess, depending on the style it could look nice but for winter it would have to be warm enough for Canadian winters. :D

Icaria, that’s the reason why I love Weir’s books. They read more like novels than scholarly works. This one is the only exception, probably because there is so much information to process.

And re cape coats, I’m not sure how warm they’d keep your arm in winter… I’m still sticking to a regular, warm coat.

I’m so sorry, you may have recieved 2 comments for this post. I believe it was a glitch on my part. Of course, no need to post both.

I think it’s the first time I’ve done one of these…

1. Do you have a favourite salad?
Caesar, maybe. I usually don’t eat them at home, though.
2. Worst face primer?
Never used one- just eyeshadow primers. I use a foundation that never seems to come off. <3
3. What are you wearing on your feet right now?
BUNNY SOCKS! I get new ones at Easter every year.
4. Natural or synthetic makeup brushes?
Synthetic… but really, I'm a sucker for EcoTools brushes. I've had other synthetics that are horrible. Ulta brand is just harsh and scratchy. Studio32 is okay for a cheap set, but not as good as others I've used. I haven't put out for expensive ones, yet.
5. What do you think of cape coats?
Meh. And bleh. The only person I can think of who could pull one off is Alan Rickman reprising Snape, or some similarly gothy character. Or maybe Neil Gaiman, but somehow I don't see that being his style. :P

BebeTain, EcoTools brushes are wonderful! The bristles are so soft and do their job so well!

lol @ the cape coats. I can see how it would suit some goth character, but on anyone else I think it just looks odd.

You got such a steal! The accessory store is cute! I’ll have to browse through it. “Chock full of details” haha, I usually see “chock full of nuts” in food packaging though I can’t pinpoint which product. :P
Hooray! My dad just bought me a 52oz jar of organic, cold-pressed coconut oil ! :D Haha now I can try new ways with it (though I’ve tried nearly all on the list). I have been using it to take off my makeup and sunscreen and I’ll add honey and maybe yogurt (cool and refreshing) just for fun. I ran out of proper cleanser (one that takes off all my very water-resistant suncreen) and this does the trick! I do wash it off with a face cleanser afterwards though.

1. Chinese Chicken Salad from Souplantation, for salad with leaves (it’s one of my favorite places to go for salads, soup, and freshly baked breads and muffins). But for my actual salad, I like egg salad.
2. I haven’t tried a bad face primer. I nearly always research before I buy so I’m usually really satisfied with my purchases.
3. Nothing!
4. As long as the brush is soft, applies evenly, blends easily, and is easy to clean. Of course not all brushes are like this but it must at least have the first three traits.
5. I have one! It’s more of a kaftan but it makes me look like a moth because of the bunched up frabric and the too-large size(doesn’t help that it’s brown). I haven’t worn it out once and I bought it because the material and style is so pretty. It’s too big for me as the fabric overwhelms my frame. It looks great on my friend who is 5′ 8″. I will eventually find something to do with it as the piece is just beautiful. I am not a fan of the style but if done right (like most things), it can look great. However, I do not sport the moth look. For one, I am scare of moths and two: I don’t like moths, three: I don’t think it looks very good on short people like me.

Janessa, Tine is very talented, isn’t it? And that was so nice of your dad! There are just so many things you can do with coconut oil. It’s really wonderful at removing even stubborn makeup and sunscreen, isn’t it?

I’m sorry your coat is too big for you, what a bummer! Have you thought about taking it to a dressmaker? Maybe she’ll know how to make it wearable for you.

1. Do you have a favourite salad?
Love salads :) My favourite at the moment is beetroot shredded with lambs lettuce and shard
2. Worst face primer?
Have used so few I don’t really know!
3. What are you wearing on your feet right now?
Nothing but my tattoo :)
4. Natural or synthetic makeup brushes?
Don’t mind really
5. What do you think of cape coats?
Meh.

Viv, I don’t really get cape coats. They don’t look like they’ll keep you all that warm and have a very weird shape.
