There are some men’s perfumes that can be easily worn by women too. La Nuit De L’Homme is one of them. Featuring quite a few of the notes usually used in masculine perfumes such as bergamot, lavender and cedar, it also contains a huge dollop of amber and vanilla, which gives the scent a sensual sweetness that makes it unisex. It actually reminds me of a nineteenth-century dandy, impeccably dressed and sipping a glass of champagne before hitting the dancefloor.
La Nuit De L’Homme opens with a mainstream burst of woody and peppery notes: cedar, cardamom and bergamot, and a dash of fruits (could it be blackcurrent?) all smell very rich, intense and masculine. But don’t worry ladies. Although the cardamom and cedar linger on, the scent softens down a bit and the inclusion of lavender gives it a slightly fresh and slightly balsamic accent.
The drydown is a sensual and sweet mix of vetiver, amber and vanilla, with a touch of courmarin. Because the cardamom and the cedar notes are so intense and pervade the entire scent, La Nuit De L’Homme is most suitable for night events such as a romantic date or a gala. Overall, it’s an effervescent and bold scent.
Unlike most colognes, it has great sillage (the trail a perfume leaves behind) and staying power (it last for the entire day on me). But like most colognes, it lacks originality. I appreciate YSL trying to create an opulent evening scent, and in a way they succeeded, but maybe because we’re in a time of recession, they preferred to play it safe by using notes and accords that are very common, and reducing the edginess of the scent by adding a warm, oriental sweetness.

E’ un profumo davvero buonissimo.
yes, it is not very original but I love it a lot. Have got this scent for my brother for his Birthday. And it’s true, I wore it myself several times and loved (I don’t like girly scents). Can’t wait for my JHAG samples to arrive
