in ingredients

What it is
Dimethyl Ether is a colorless liquid.

What it does
Dimethyl Ether is used as a propellant in aerosol products.
It is also used to reduce the thickness of products and as a solvent to prevent the other ingredients in a formula from separating.

Side effects
Dimethyl Ether can cause irritations and be slightly toxic when inhaled. Although it disperses quickly into the hair, which means that we are exposed only to minuscule quantities of it, Dimethyl Ether has been banned in Japan.

Wow, I didn’t know about this sneaky little ingredient. While I don’t use aerosol products, I have an aerosol spray can for setting pastels and charcoal. Because I do art, I have given up on being toxic-free in that sense. X_X I do try to avoid toxins though.
I’m so happy to comment on your blog again! <3

Janessa, I’m glad too. I try to avoid aerosol products as much as possible, but sometimes you just can’t. In any case, as long as you don’t inhale huge quantities of it daily or regularly, you should be fine. :)
