Product Review: Essence Marble Mania Lipgloss in Coral Whirl

Name: Marble Mania Lipgloss in Coral Whirl
Brand: Essence
Size: 8ml
Price: €1,19

From Essence’s website:
The new wow effect! The marbling effect looks great and is easy to blend with other colours. Gives a super glossy look. Available in five colours.

What I liked:
- provides a sheer and shimmery wash of colour
- easy to apply, feels comfortable on the lips
- non-sticky
- the packaging
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- if you like pigmented glosses, this is not for you
- not very longlasting

I have a soft spot for marbled products. All those colours whirled together look so cute in the packaging that, even if I know once applied the final shade will turn out basic, simple and dupable, I find it hard to resist them. And when they are as cheap as Essence Marble Mania lipgloss, a tube will definitely come home with me.

The shade I chose is called Coral Whirl, which is very misleading because it doesn’t look coral at all. Once applied the baby pink and the bright strawberry pink shades blend together to create a sheer cool-toned rose shade with silver shimmers. Totally unoriginal but pretty.

The texture, which is easy to apply thanks to the small doe-foot applicator, is on the thicker side. However, it feels comfortable on the lips (but doesn’t moisturize them) and isn’t sticky at all. Staying power is average. It lasts only two hours on my lips (less if you eat or drink) and then it’s time to reapply it again.

Do I like this lipgloss? Yes, I do. Would I repurchase it? Probably not. Despite my love for all things marble, these are gimmicky, but inexpensive, lipglosses and as such, one is enough. I would recommend it to all those who love marble products as much as I do, but it’s not really a must.

Summary
Essence Marble Mania Lipgloss in Coral Whirl provides a sheer and shimmery rosy wash of colour to the lips. Although the texture is on the thicker side, it feels comfortable on the lips and isn’t sticky. However, staying power is only average.

  1. Hey Gio,
Gosh I forgot how informative your blog is. Not to mentioned fun to read as well.! Thanks for the review. I agree this product doesn’t look coral in the tube nor on you lips. Very misleading. Guess this lipgloss is aimed for teenagers with limited budget.

Btw did you know that we have essence too in Malaysia? But not all Watson’s outlets have essence shelf. I had great time trying the products when it first came here. =)

    • Hanna, aww thank you! It’s nice to see you here again too. I think they should change the name. The colour is pretty but I was still disappointed because I expected a coral shade.

I’m glad you have Essence in Malaysia too. I really like the brand, they make some lovely products at very affordable prices.

  2. Giorgia, I haven’t been on lately because I’ve been so busy. I will be back commenting daily though. I just had a lot of projects and events going on plus I was really sick for a few days and exhausted.
I need long-wearing lipglosses! I eat everything on my lips so they have to stay put. :] I really like the swirl of colors though.

    • Janessa, I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been well. I hope you’re fine now and take it easy hun. :)

It looks very pretty, doesn’t it? I wish it lasted longer too though.
