Hello everyone,
I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. As for me, I’ve been experiencing some computer woes, which is why I haven’t been replying to comments as fast as I usually do, or commenting on other blogs as often and couldn’t send out the bi-monthly newsletter last Monday. Sorry about that. Thank goodness for scheduled posting though or I don’t know how I would have coped this week. lol The problem is almost sorted out now so things should be back to normal soon. In the meantime, here are some random ramblings:
Game Of Thrones Special Effects
I’ve recently come across this video showing what special effects were created for the second season of Game Of Thrones. They are really outstanding and it’s no wonder they show has won an Emmy for them. There are quite a lot of spoilers in it though so if you haven’t seen the entire season yet, finish that and then watch the video. You can also find more videos here.
What I’m Reading Now

The Age Of Innocence by Edith Wharton. The Age of Innocence is set in Old New York in the 1870s. It’s a time when people “dreaded scandals more than disease”, and comformed to meaningless rules and rituals, which prevented them from being free and going after their dreams. In this world, Newland Archer is about to marry the conventional May welland, when her cousin, Countess Oleska, arrives in town. They fall in love but will have to choose between duty or passion. The book is quite slow, which made it harder for me to get into it at first, but in the end I loved it all the more for it. This slow pace emphasizes how society people dealt with problems in a subtle way rather than making a scene. The book is quite sad, but also funny at times and very ironic. Like Austen, Wharton too uses irony to point out the hypocrisy and faults of the society she describes. Overall, an excellent read.

1. What program do you use to edit your photos?
Gimp. I used to use Photoshop, but then I switched to Linux and so had to give that up for Gimp. I don’t like it that much though. Sure it does everything I need, but it’s a lot more complicated to use than Photoshop. And the fact it opens in a multi-windows mode really annoys me.
2. Do you tightline your eyes?
Nope. I have small eyes and I’m afraid that this technique would make them look even smaller.
3. What scent are you wearing today?
Juliette Has A Gun Midnight Oud, a light oud scent. It’s my favourite from the brand.
4. High School Musical or Grease?
Grease, hands down!
5. What do you think of faux fur on jackets, coats etc..?
I’m not really a fan of fur, real or fake, to be honest.

The GoT theme music still makes my heart beat faster (and so does Tom Wlaschiha, *cough*).
The effects are stunning!
The only bit that bothers me are the dragons – they’re a bit obvious. No wonder they’ve kept them out of sight as much as they could, but I wonder what they’ll do in the future – a big part of the action revolves around them and they are getting bigger and bigger.
Ana, the theme music is awesome indeed. Everything about this show is. I agree that the dragons are a bit obvious but I guess they’re particularly hard to do. It will be interesting to see what they are gonna do with them as they grow.
1. What program do you use to edit your photos? Photoshop CS5
I think I will always use Photoshop, I like it a lot, I find it easy to work with and I’ve been using it since CS2

but I will be wearing Fan di Fendi, I really love the leather scent in this perfume.

2. Do you tightline your eyes? Nope. I wish I could but I feel like crying all the time. Actually last Friday I had my makeup done by a professional makeup artist and she thigh line my eyes but I felt like crying all the time
3. What scent are you wearing today? I just woke up
4. High School Musical or Grease? I’m going with Grease here
5. What do you think of faux fur on jackets, coats etc..? I like fur, I have a couple of jackets from faux fur, but I don’t like those jackets where they combine fur with leather. Let it be simple fur

Tavia, I love a good leather perfume.
And Photoshop is an amazing program indeed. It’s quite simple to use when you get the hang of it, while with Gimp even after a year I still struggle to do some more complicated graphics. I’d switch back to Windows just for Photoshop lol.

4. High School Musical or Grease? non.

Marina, I think the tightline look is really pretty. I wish I could do it, but I have small eyes and I’m afraid this look wouldn’t suit me.
Everyone I’ve talked to loves this show and I want to watch it!
The special effects are amazing so thank you for sharing. I am entirely fascinated. I’m beginning to read more intellectual books like the ones you read just because of you! Hehe whenever I read stories, I usually read online stories or books for entertainment more than learning.
I think fur (real or faux) often looks bulky and if it’s real, I feel like it’s unnecessary.
1. I don’t edit videos but I do make digital work. :]
2. Nope! I have small eyes too and I find mascara looks more stunning and dramatic when I don’t use any eyeliner with it. I think it has to do with my pale coloring too. I think your eyes are beautiful though.
3. I’m wearing Caudalie’s The des Vignes.
4. I haven’t watched Grease so my choice is unfair but I choose Grease because HSM makes me lose brain cells.
5. I don’t like fur either. I think fur feels really soft and fluffy and it’s nice to pet but that’s where it ends.
Janessa, I completely agree with you on fur.
And I’m glad that you are reading more. Doesn’t really matter what you read, as long as you do. Every book has something to teach and that’ll stay with you.
