Name: Absolute Eye Colour in Plum Up The Jam
Brand: Catrice
Size: 2g
Price: €2,79

From Catrice’s website:
The color, the durability, the coverage, the effects – the Monos are absolutely fabulous in every single way!

What I liked:
- soft texture, blends easily
- not powdery, didn’t experience any fallout
- if you like glittery eyeshadows, this is for you
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- if you don’t like your eyeshadows to be very sparkly, skip this
- sheer color payoff
- only lasts a few hours without a primer

Don’t you love it when cosmetics have cute names? And Plum Up The Jam, one of the four new Catrice Absolute Eye Colour shades released this fall, isn’t just cute, it’s also evocative. At least for me. Every time I look at it, I reminisce about my school years, when, come September, I would breakfast at the kitchen table, the light streaming in from the big widow illuminating everything on it, with a toast topped with jam.

Catrice has taken the colour of the plum and the specks of light, mixed them together, and came up with Plum Up The Jam, a dark, reddish plum shade chock full of gold glitters. In the packaging, it is stunning. On the lid, a bit less. That’s because the glitters, which sparkle beautifully, tend to be quite big and obvious.

They won’t make you look like a disco ball, but they can definitely be too much for those who like only a subtle shiny effect. Despite the glitters, though, the texture feels soft to the touch and easy to blend. I also didn’t experience any fall out at all.

The pigmentation isn’t the best. In fact, you’ll need to use it on top of an eyeshadow primer to get the colour to show up properly. A primer will also be necessary to make the colour stay put all day on oily lids. I know this review isn’t very positive, but I don’t want you think this eyeshadow sucks because it doesn’t. It’s simply just a regular drugstore eyeshadow that needs the help of a primer to look and perform its best.

Available at: European drugstore

Summary
Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in Plum Up The Jam is a sheer reddish plum eyeshadow chock full of golden glitters that needs the help of a primer to show up properly and last all day. Despite the obvious glitters, the texture isn’t gritty nor powdery and blends really easily.

Rating: 3/5

I don’t really like sparkly shadows unless the sparkle makes the shadow special. Otherwise, I think glitters and sparkly pigments give a more dramatic effect. Too bad this is sheer. I like the name ‘plum up the jam’ :D but with a name like that, I’d expect it to be BOOM in your face. :]

Janessa, I agree. The name is a bit deceiving. I expected more from it too, but I guess this is one of those cases in which you get exactly what pay for.

This colour looks beautiful. I have a matte eye shadow from Catrice and I really like it.

Marina, it’s a beautiful colour indeed. I just wish it were more pigmented. And I’m glad that you like their matte formula.
