Hello everyone,

it’s Sunday again and you know what that means, right? Yep, time for some random ramblings:

Blogs We Love: Jane Austen’s World

Run by the lovely Vic, Jane Austen’s World is a treasure trove for all Janeites. Here you will find lots of information about our favourite author and the time she lived in (Vic covers pretty much every detail of daily life during the Georgian and Regency eras that you can think of and more!). She also talks about the movies inspired by Jane’s masterpieces and reviews any book written about Jane or inspired by her works. The writing style is entertaining and colloquial and every post is accompanied by lots of beautiful pictures. If you love this author, go check out Jane Austen’s World now!

What I’m Reading Now

The riddle of St. Leonard’s by Candace Robb. A historical mystery set in medieval York, during the pestilence. But this awful disease isn’t the only thing that’s plaguing the city. Weird things are happening at St. Leonard’s hospital. Treasures have been stolen, and some of their old but rich patients have died in mysterious circumstances. Owen Archer is called to investigate and I was actually surprised by how long it took him to solve the case. It’s a simple story and the author has disseminated some pretty clear clues throughout the book so it’s pretty easy to figure out who did it and why. The most interesting part of the book though was reading how the plague affected the daily lives of the inhabitants and how they tried to protect themselves from it. Overall, a nice and quick read.

Sunday Survey, Vol.114

1. Are you going/have you gone on holiday this summer?
Sadly, not. I’m staying at home this summer but I hope to go somewhere nice for the Christmas holiday.

2. Do people ever tell you that you have too much makeup?
Yep, all the time. And they’re probably right, but I won’t stop buying new products lol.

3. What’s your favourite mascara right now?
Pupa Vamp! Mascara in Extra Black. It really gives you that dramatic, false lashes look without the hassle.

4. Agatha Christie or Edgar Wallace?
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know the answer lol. Agatha Christie. Her plots are original, the characters realistic and the end almost always takes me by surprise. Instead, I’m not really that much into Edgar Wallace. I’m not sure why but I just can’t warm or be interested in his characters.

5. What do you think of 60′s style clothes?
I don’t like them at all. I don’t think they are very flattering. Love the makeup though.

I love that blog, especially the colloquial tone – it makes for a fun and easy read.

Oooh, that part about plague the daily life sounds so interesting!

1. No, I had to work. And now I’ll have to work some more.
I haven’t gone swimming once :| .
2. … Yes *hangs head down in shame* .
3. Golden Rose 3D Fantastic Lash Mascara. That’s a mouthful.
4. I haven’t read Wallace, but I think I’d steer towards Christie all the same even if I did. I love Agatha :) .
5. Pierre Cardin and the like? Love them.

Discovering that Jane Austen blog must be like finding treasure. :]
History AND mystery. Perfect two’s for you! Only a quick read because you’re so smart. I could probably make that book drag a month before I finish reading it. I’m not very good with sitting down too long (except for art). I waited a year for this one book to release and once I got my hands on it, I read about a hundred pages before I had to get up and do something else.
1. Nope.
2. Sometimes, but I really don’t have that much makeup.
3. I haven’t been wearing mascara.
4. I knew you’d pick Agatha Christie! I liked your answer saying regular readers of your blog… :D I don’t read either so I can’t pick. But if I must choose one, I pick Agatha because you like her much more.
5. Oh, yuck! No no, not my taste.

Janessa, have you thought about getting an audio book? That way you could listen to it while you’re doing your art or anything else. :)

That’s a great idea! :D I’ll look into one.

I’m sure you’ll like it. Audio books can be really enjoyable when the reader has a nice, good voice. :)
