Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.33

Hello everyone,

and happy Sunday! Can you believe it’s August already and summer is almost over? How quickly time flies. Oh well, I plan to make the most of what’s left of the season and I hope you will too. In the meantime, let’s enjoy some random ramblings, shall we?

New Goodies

I feel really blessed to be part of the beauty blogging community. Most bloggers are so nice and friendly and always willing to help. One of the bloggers I’ve become friends with is the lovely Annabella from Skin Scrubs. When she went home to the States earlier this year, she asked me if she could get me anything and I took her up on her offer. I thought that was really thoughtful and  felt even more grateful when, upon receiving her package, I discovered she had included a few extras. Thank you so much hun! You’re a star! So, what did I get? A bunch of Bath & Body Works stuff which smells gorgeous (how I wish we had a shop here too!), a couple of the much-raved Wet n Wild palettes and a glitter polish from Jordana. Reviews are coming soon!

What I’m Reading Now

A Pocket Full Of Rye by Agatha Christie. So far, this is my favourite Miss Marple book even though she’s not in it that much lol. The investigation is mainly conducted by the police and Miss Marple arrives on the scene only after the third murder is committed but of course her contribution will be essential to catch the culprit. But who are the victims? Rex Fortescue, a businessman whose deals have always been barely on the verge of legality, dies after drinking a cup of tea. Traces of rye are found in his pocket, which really puzzles everyone. Among the suspects are his wife, his sons and some enemies from the past. Two more people die before the killer is caught and one of them was a friend of Miss Marple, which of course prompts her to help in the investigation. Overall, it’s a very good story full of twists, suspense, few clues and a nursery rhyme to add a touch of creepiness. Highly recommended.

Sunday Survey, Vol.112

1. Have you taken advantage of summer sales?
Yep. I have bought a red and black dress and a black lace skirt from Fiona C.

2. How many beauty products are in your purse right now?
Only two: a lip balm and a packet of oil blotting sheets.

3. Do you have air conditioning at home?
Nope, but I should. I’m melting here lol.

4. Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen?
Vivienne Westwood. Her designs are bold, feminine and flattering. I love how they are often inspired by 17th and 18th century styles and how she uses tartan so much (tartan is my favourite pattern).

5. Do you like white shoes?
I’m not a big fan of them honestly, but only because they get dirty so easily!

Ugh, when I saw ‘Cuticule remover’ I thought about those little knife-like tools, but strong chemicals are not all that better.

    1. Yes. I came to the conclusion that I don’t need new stuff except for some dress shirts for work and so when I saw a good deal at one of the few fashion companies that make shirts that fit me… I jumped at the chance.
I still need a plain black one, though.

    2. Just a lip-balm.

    3. Yes.
I think the others go a bit crazy with it, but I’m glad it’s there.

    4. McQueen forever!
Vivienne is cool, but McQueen… he was a genius.
(I have a special folder just for his creations and I’ve been tumblring him incessantly *blush* .)

    5. Same as you.

Ana, I’m glad you’ve found a good deal on dress shirts and I hope you’ll soon come across a black one you like too. I prefer to shop for stuff I need too, even during the sales. Doesn’t matter how cheap something is, if you’re not gonna use it, you’re wasting money.

I agree that McQueen was a genius. By the way, I’m glad you’ve started tumblring. Your tumblr is a feast for the eyes. You always find the coolest images. :)

    1. Have you taken advantage of summer sales? Nope, I spent my money on my treatment and I still have to do it for a while. I might not even go in vacation :(
    2. How many beauty products are in your purse right now? Two: my Deborah lipstick and La Mer Concealer because it has a mirror included :)
    3. Do you have air conditioning at home? Yes, but I have it in the living room while I spent most of my time in bedroom and it takes a while for the entire home to cool.
    4. Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen? I don’t know :)
    5. Do you like white shoes? I do, I had a couple of pairs myself but they get dirty very fast as you said and it’s too much work to clean them up. :)

Tavia, your health is more important. I hope your treatment is going well and that you’ll get well soon. *hugs*

  3. Janessa says

I’m so happy for you, Giorgia! 😀 You’re getting lotsa love from all over the world.
You sure like Agatha Christie :] Oh my, I’ve never heard of exfoliating the face with cuticle removers. Eeks! That stuff is uncomfortable on my fingers, let alone the face. I accidentally spilled some once on my finger.

    1. Yes, I do! I take advantage of all sales :]. I’m a saver shopper.
    2. Just lipbalm!
    3. Yes, I have to! It was 108 F today (42C)
    4. Vivienne, if I were to actually wear the clothes. I really do like some of McQueen’s extravagant pieces but those are more for show than practical wear.
    5. No, because they get dirty easily.

And if I ever do comment on fashion stuff, please correct me if I’m wrong about anything. I’m not fashion knowledgeable though I’m learning. ;]

    • beautifulwithbrains says

Janessa, thank you! I’m feeling very blessed at the moment to have met so many wonderful and friendly people. :)

I agree, I’m not sure what some people were thinking about exfoliating with cuticle remover. That’s so not a good idea!
