What I didn’t like:

– the price
I knew I shouldn’t have tried the new Flora by Gucci Garden Collection. Floral scents from designer brands very often disappoint me because they tend to be too sweet, too generic, too indistinguishable.. Yet, the gorgeous advertising campaign and the pretty and sleek bottles totally sucked me in and I figured there would be no harm in asking for samples at my local beauty shop.
After all, perfumes can often surprise you, and if not, well, samples are free. The collection includes three scents, Gorgeous Gardenia, Glamorous Magnolia and Gracious Tuberose. I decided to try the latter first. Gracious Tuberose really surpassed all my expectations, which were very low, and not in a positive way. This is one of the most insipid scents I have ever tried.
Tuberose is present right from the start and is at first mingled with a strong orange blossom note, which smells quite soapy. As the fragrance progresses, the white floral note becomes more prominent, but it’s very light and fresh, never cloying. The drydown is a fruity woody mix of citrus and white cedarwood, which is quite light too.
Overall, Gracious Tuberose is a very fresh, clean and light tuberose scent. So light that I think it could appeal even to those who aren’t fans of tuberose. It’s actually tuberose lovers that will shy away from it and find it too generic and unremarkable. There is nothing really that makes this fragrance stand out among the gazillion of floral scents on the market.
I don’t find it particularly gracious either. It’s a fresh scent for the warmer months, but very overpriced. Not only it lacks originality, but the staying power is very poor. Fragrances usually stick to my skin like glue, but Gracious Tuberose disappears after only 3 hours of wear, which means you’ll have to reapply it often.
At $70.00, Flora by Gucci Gracious Tuberose is very overpriced. This light and fresh tuberose scent is also so generic and insipid, and only lasts 3 hours on the skin.
