How much do you believe of a beauty product’s claims?
Beautiful with brains says: I don’t believe any of it until I’ve tried the product myself. Brands obviously want to portray their products in the best possible light and they often try to do that by making exaggerated claims that are downright ridiculous so you can’t help being skeptical. These days I hardly pay attention to what a product promises, and instead check the ingredient list and its reviews before deciding whether it’s worth trying it or not.

I just listen to advices like “for normal/oily/dry skin”, but I don’t believe them until I try the product. About some hyperbolic claims, I ignore them.

LaBisbetica, I agree. We all look for products targeted to our skin type but sometimes even those don’t work!
I’m with you Gio. I don’t believe it until I try it. If companies were actually more honest, I might believe it on face value. But, until, for instance, mascara companies stop using false eyelashes in their advertising, I’m not going to believe it.

Trisha, I agree. I understand that companies want to portray their products in the best possible light, but they should do it without lying so blatantly. Mascara ads are the worst. They look so fake! I think more people would buy their products if they showed what they actually do. The fact they don’t makes me think they don’t believe their products aren’t really that good..
I almost always read reviews first, so I don’t actually read what the packaging claims and buy it because of that.
Janessa, it’s always best to read reviews first, isn’t it? They’re much more reliable.
i only believe in product claims maybe like 50%? the other 50% will have to wait until i read some reviews first, and then test it out myself if it interest me ahahaha. On a side note i don’t believe in ads anymore, because everything has been touched up! Though ads still makes me wanna go out and buy stuff!
reviews are quite reliable, but some sites they only list the positive ones but not the negative ones, which is quite a bummer.

Plue, I believe there is some truth in the claims. Some products really are as pigmented, longlasting, moisturizing etc as the brands claim but even then they usually stretch the truth so much that you can’t help being sceptical. And I usually avoid sites where only positive reviews are posted. They’re just unreliable imo.
