From Doll Face’s website:
A must have for all skin types this serum is based in a carrier of 100% organic pink grapefruita powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from damaging elements. Honey, milk and soy smooth and soften even the driest complexion. Vitamin C encourages a captivating complexion that radiates with tantalizing luminosity.
What I liked:
- makes skin soft and brighter
- high concentration of antioxidants help prevent premature aging
- pretty and recyclable retro packaging
What I didn’t like:
- brown in color, makes my skin look slightly darker
- unpleasant scent
- the bottle has a big opening so you may pour out more product than necessary
I may be a teetotaller but I still like to give my skin a treat with a nice cocktail. No, I’m not crazy. I’m talking about Doll Face Natural Beauty Cocktails, a natural range of skincare products made with juices, flower extracts, sea plants and botanicals, and packaged in cute, pink and retro-styled bottles and jars. Although the glass bottles have a big opening making it easy to pour out more product than necessary, they can be reused and recycled. And they are housed in little boxes with real cocktail recipes on them. How cute is that?
The cocktail we’ll talk about today is Mimosa AM Protective Serum. Despite the cute packaging, the serum itself isn’t very appealing. It has a very liquidy and runny consistency so you need to be careful when you apply it, it’s brown in color and I noticed that it tends to make my skin look a bit darker after application but I use it at night so it’s not a problem for me, and has an unpleasant, almost pungent scent. I can’t detect what it smells like exactly, but at least it disappears fast.
Despite these small drawbacks, I actually love the serum. Ok, it may not look and smell good, but it’s effective, which is the most important thing right? Mimosa AM Protective Serum is chock full of antioxidants. It contains honey (which also has anti-inflammatory properties), thyme extract, green tea (which I think is what contributes to give the serum its brown color) and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), all of which has strong antioxidant properties and will help prevent premature aging.
However, antioxidants (and in particular Ascorbic Acid which isn’t a very stable form of Vitamin C) degrade when exposed to light and air so store this serum in a cool place away from light. In addition, the acid component of Ascorbic Acid can cause irritations in some people but I didn’t experience any negative reactions at all. Instead, after using the serum, my skin feels soft, smooth and brighter (the brightening effect is due to Vitamin C). The high price may put some people off, but overall Mimosa AM Protective Serum is a wonderful treat for all skin types.
Ingredients:
Citrus grandis (pink grapefruit) juice, ascorbic acid (vitamin c), glycerin (vegetable), hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans, organic honey, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, thymus vulgaris (thyme) extract, macrocystis pyrifera extract (sea kelp), algae extract (sea algae) (sea minerals), benzyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, potassium sorbate, lactic acid, glycine soja (soybean) protein, sorbitol, zinc sulfate, xanthan gum, acetic acid, citrus grandis (pink grapefruit) peel oil.

Summary
Doll Face Mimosa AM Protective Serum has an unappealing brown color, an unplesant scent and it is quite pricey. But it is also effective. It makes skin soft and radiant and helps prevent premature aging thanks to its high concentration of powerful antioxidants. The pink and retro-styled packaging is also very pretty.

LaDamaBianca, sì, è molto romantico davvero.
So that’s what gives my serum its brownish tinge. The only antioxidant serum I’ve ever used and still use just because it’s so inexpensive is Sophyto’s Anti-Aging Antioxidant Serum. It comes in set of two other full-sized products (3 total) for around $30 at Sam’s Club. :]

Janessa, that’s a wonderful deal, lucky you! Brown-coloured products aren’t very appealing, aren’t they? But if that means they contain high concentrations of beneficial ingredients, it’s worth using them.
You’ve made me appreciate some of the US makeup prices a little more. Hehe. Yup yup. Thank you for replying to all my recent ‘spam’ from the past few hours haha. And know that if you ever are busy or forget to reply, I won’t be offended one bit! You at least make a big effort to reply so I believe that’s all that matters.

I’m glad of that, I really envy US prices. Even when they’re expensive, they’re a lot cheaper than in most other countries. You’re welcome. And they weren’t spam, I love talking to you.
And thank you. I try to reply to very comment, even if it can take me a couple of days sometimes.
:] You’re very inspirational. You don’t give up and put a lot of effort in doing what you love!
