Hello everyone,
another week has gone by and it’s time to listen to my Sunday random ramblings again. Ready? Here we go:
Blogs We Love: The Gibson Girl’s Guide To Glamour

If like me, you love both beauty and history, then you have to check out The Gibson Girl’s Guide To Glamour. Gibson Girls were the personification of the feminine ideal of the Edwardian and late-Victorian eras. Now you can discover their beauty secrets, find out what recipes they were using, learn how to style your hair like them, and what trends were popular back then. Overall, it’s a very interesting and informative read and I highly recommend it to all those who love the history of beauty. If that’s you, go check it out now!
What I’m Reading Now

Chocolat by Joanne Harris. I loved the movie with Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche so I was really glad to receive the book that inspired it for Christmas. And although they changed a lot of things in the movie, the book is a wonderful read too. Vianne, who is a witch of sorts, moves to Lansquenet, where she opens a chocolate shop during Lent, thus clashing with the priest Reynaud, who considers her an enemy who is tempting the community away from the path of righteousness. Things get even worse when a group of gypsies arrive at Lansquenet where Vianne and her friend Armande are the only ones to welcome them, while everyone else tries to send them away. The story is about free spirits vs traditionalists, doing what makes you happy instead than conforming to what everyone else is doing, and keeping an open mind and being kind to everyone instead than ostracizing them because you’re afraid and don’t understand their choices and their way of life. The characters are well-developed, the descriptions make you feel like you are really in Lansquenet (and make you quite hungry too!) and the book flows easily. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable read.
