One of the advantages of subscribing to a service like GlossyBox is having the chance to try products from brands you didn’t even know existed. And that’s just how I discovered Lakshmi, a cosmetic brand created in Verona which makes makeup products that also act as skincare treatments. For instance, the eyeshadow I’m gonna talk about today, Lakshmi Compact Eyeshadow in 02, contains, among other ingredients, Sunflower Oil and Argan Oil, both of which have moisturizing properties.
While this is a lovely idea, I don’t think such ingredients are that useful in eyeshadows. First of all, I doubt there is enough of them in the formula to actually make a difference. In addition, I always wear a primer underneath my eyeshadows to make them stay put all day but that means that these oils, provided there is enough of them in the formula, won’t get in contact with the skin anyway. In any case, they surely won’t hurt skin and their inclusion may appeal to those who love natural products. But let’s see how it performs, shall we?
The eyeshadow is packaged in a cute orange, circular cardboard box. The shade I have, n.02 is a beautiful gray with blue undertones that’s more evident under artificial light, and is chock full of multicolored shimmers that make your eyes sparkle but without being over the top. It’s a very elegant shade perfect for everyday looks. The texture is not very soft but not too hard either and just blends easily, although it is also a bit powdery so some fallout can occur.
The eyeshadow also has good color payoff. However, I’ve noticed that, while the brush picks up a lot of product, most of it isn’t transferred onto the lid so, although when swatched with your finger the eyeshadow looks very pigmented, it will provide only a soft wash of color to your eyes. I guess this is due to the not very soft texture so I suggest you use a primer underneath to intensify the shade, and also to make the color last all day without smudging nor fading.

Pretty color, but too bad that it doesn’t transfer well on the lid.
The cardboard packaging reminds me a bit of Paul & Joe without the cutesy prints. Also the Hello Kitty Liberty individual eyeshadows.

Vonvon, it’s a shame indeed. I was very pleased when I first swatched it with my finger as it looked so pigmented so it was a bit disappointed to find out it doesn’t transfer well onto the lid..
The packaging is very similar, only less cute, I agree.
I thought this was an Indian brand, that name is very exotic. It’s a pity it is not so intense on the lid.

La Bisbetica, I thought it was an Indian brand too initially lol. And I agree, that’s a pity indeed.
To be honest, the shade isn’t spectacular so it isn’t the end of the world that it’s just an average product.
Anyhow, I’d love to try their cone-shaped kajals that seem to be good. It’s just because I’m not very happy with the one by Sleek…

Mylanqolia, I think it’s a nice shade but easily dupable really. I love cone-shaped kajals and I’m sad to hear you don’t like the one from Sleek. I’ve been wanting to try that for a while but I think I’ll pass now…
