Shiro Cosmetics is one of my favourite indie companies. They have a whole bunch of amazing geek and gamer inspired products and although I don’t understand all the names and references as I’m not into games myself (I know who Pikachu is but that’s it), I certainly won’t let that stop me from appreciating well-formulated, wonderful eyeshadows (and everything else they make, really). Shiro Cosmetics has a wide variety of shades to choose from, some quite complex, others more simple, but all unique as the company doesn’t sell repackaged shades.

I have ordered 12 eyeshadow samples so far, in mostly green and brown/neutral shades. While my regular readers won’t be surprised by seeing so many green shades (after all it’s my favourite eyeshadow color), they may wonder why someone who’s into brights bought samples of neutral shades. Well, that’s simple. Shiro Cosmetics neutral shades are simply awesome, lovely and not boring at all. I guess that’s cos they mostly contain colored shimmers and glitters that make them stand out from the average neutral eyeshadows and appeal to bright-lovers as well. But let’s see which shades I’ve got shall we?

from L to R: Everything Is Bears, Deku, Small Key and Ganondorf

Everything Is Bears: rich, dark brown chock full of gold and red glitter.
Deku: copper chock full of green sparks.
Small Key: dark and metallic bronzy copper with silver sparkle.
Ganondorf: black with strong red shimmer.

from L to R: Shaymin, Mew, Subrosia and Pikachu

Shaymin: delicate pinky-peach with subtle teal shimmer.
Mew: bright strawberry pink with a very subtle peachy-yellow tone.
Subrosia: dark maroon with subtle orange glitter and almost matte finish.
Pikachu: bright shimmering yellow chock full of red glitter.

from L to R: Budew, Farore's Wind, Bulbasaur and Link

Budew: grass-green with a gold duochrome and a shimmery finish.
Farore’s Wind: light green with blue undertones and silver shimmers.
Bulbasaur: bright grassy green with a gold undertone and a shimmery finish.
Link: dark forest green with blue undertones and with green shimmers.

My favourite shades are Everything Is Bears and Pikachu as they are really unique, but all the others are very pretty too. The formula, which contains carnauba wax, is simply wonderful. It’s very creamy, applies smoothly and blends effortlessly. The pigmentation is also very good. The swatches above were taken with only one swipe over bare skin, and the colors look even better over a base like Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, which will make the shimmers and glitters really stand out. A base will also make them last longer, although they are fairly longlasting on their own as well.

Shiro Cosmetics Eyeshadows are available in 3 sizes: a sample size, which contains 1/4 tsp of product packaged in small plastic bags and retails at only $1.00; a mini size, which contains 1g of product and costs $3.00; and finally the full size which contains 2g and is only $5.00. If I really have to find a con to these eyeshadows, I would say that’s the fact they can only be bought online, which may put some people off.

Available at: shirocosmetics.com

Summary
Shiro Cosmetics Loose Eyeshadows, which are available in lots of beautiful shades, have a creamy, smooth formula that’s a dream to work with. The eyeshadows all have good color payoff, last long and are very inexpensive. However, they can only be bought online.

Rating: 4.5/5

The shades are gorgeous! Unfortunately, I am really clumsy with loose powders!

Jamilla, the colors are beautiful, aren’t they? I noticed these are less prone to fall out than most loose eyeshadows, but some can still occur so you need to be careful anyway.

Pikachu…hehe! Such a cute name and I love how pigmented it looks on you. I’m pretty clumsy with loose powders too. Ugh.

Brittany, that’s one of my favourites. Love the color and the name! It’s a shame loose powders can be so messy, although these are a bit less so than most.

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous shades! For my love of eyeshadows, especially yellow ones, Pikachu is my favorite! But I like all the greens too! and the pinks!

Vonvon, they are all gorgeous, aren’t they? Pikachu is really one of the most beautiful yellows I have ever seen.

I love Shiro! I need to get some more of her shadows.. and more Intertubes! I love the references to Pokemon, Zelda, and memes — but I’m a bit lost on the other ones, haha.
