Product Review: Liz Earle Superskin Body Cream

Name: Superskin Body Cream
Brand: Liz Earle
Size: 200ml
Price: £28.75

From Liz Earle’s website:
This divinely aromatic, ultra-rich body cream is formulated with 25% plant oils – making it our most intensive body moisturiser ever. With East African shea butter, organic rosehip oil, antioxidant cranberry seed oil and pomegranate extract, natural source vitamin E, plus the divine scent of neroli, this luxurious cream helps mature or very dry skin look and feel visibly plump and smooth. Massage all over your body every day for beautifully soft, youthful-looking skin.

What I liked:
– rich, but not too thick texture, spreads easily
– very moisturizing, leaves skin soft and smooth for the entire day
– smells wonderful
– the packaging

What I didn’t like:
– takes about a minute to absorb
– the price

Last month, I reviewed Liz Earle Energising Body Lotion, a lightweight lotion with a wonderful herbal smell that moisturizes skin without leaving a greasy residue behind. But while I found the cream worked well for those with normal or oily skin, it just wasn’t moisturizing enough for my dry skin. So, the lovely people at Liz Earle asked me if I wanted to try their Superskin Body Lotion, an ultra-rich body cream formulated with 25% plant oils for those with mature or very dry skin that would be more suitable for me. I said yes and I’m glad I did cos I absolutely love it!

The Superskin Body Cream has a rich, but not too thick texture, that spreads evenly on the skin and takes about a minute to absorb. Because it is so rich, you only need to use very little for each application. I was also worried it would leave a greasy residue behind but it doesn’t. Instead, thanks to Shea Butter and Rosehip Seed Oil, it leaves my skin soft, smooth and moisturized for the entire day. In addition, the Rosehip Seed Oil and the Cranberry Seed Oil, which is also present in a high concentration, also have antioxidant properties. It really is a wonderful moisturizer for those with very dry and mature skin. And it smells divine! The Neroli scent is quite strong, which may put some people off, but I absolutely adore it. It’s just wonderful!

I also love the packaging. The tube is hygienic and the flower design on it really pretty. The only con to me is the price. It retails at £28.75 which is quite expensive for a body moisturizer. There is also a mini size available that retails at £12.50 but it only contains 50ml of product. Still, it’s a nice way to try the cream and see how it works for you before splurging on the full size. However, you can’t fault the quality of the cream. If you have very dry skin, you know how difficult it is to find a good moisturizer that lasts more than a few hours so, considering how well this works, I think it is worth every penny.

Liz Earle Superskin Body Cream is a very rich, but not too thick nor greasy, cream that moisturizes skin leaving it soft, supple and smooth for the entire day. And the smell, although strong, is absolutely divine! However, it takes about a minute to absorb and is expensive.
