Name: Womanity
Brand: Thierry Mugler
Size: 1oz
Price: $58.00

What I liked:
- interesting blend of sweet and salty notes
- lasts long
- not overpowering

What I didn’t like:
- the packaging

Packaging rarely makes or breaks a purchase for me. If the product is good and the price is right, I don’t really mind if the packaging is not that pretty (although it is a big plus if it is). But the bottle of Womanity by Thierry Mugler has really put me off from trying the scent for a long while. It may be shallow, but that bottle is just awful! I like the pink and ok, it doesn’t look that bad in real life but that face… it looks just so creepy to me. In the end, curiosity got the better of me though.

The fragrance is said to play on the contrast between sweet and savoury and the fact that Thierry Mugler doesn’t release a new fragrance often, preferring to concentrate on quality instead than quantity (although not always with good results) eventually prompted me to ask for a sample at my local beauty shop. And well, I’m not sure I love it enough to purchase the full size bottle, but I definitely like it. So, what does it smell like?

Womanity starts with a strong citrus note, which is fresh but not sparkling.. in fact, it feels quite flat, which was kinda disappointing. That is followed by a green and sweet note of fig that is mixed with some subtle florals that I just can’t identify. At this stage the fragrance is quite sweet. And then caviar makes its appearance. It is very subtle and not easily recognizable. It doesn’t smell fishy at all but quite salty, which creates an interesting contrast with the sweetness that just preceded it. But what I really liked about the scent is the drydown. Labdanum and cedarwood intertwine, producing a rich, intense and sensual finish.

Womanity is an interesting fragrance, but one you need to try for yourself before deciding whether to purchase it or not. I didn’t really care for the opening and middle notes, but loved how sensual it gets at the end. I think it would be a very appropriate fragrance to wear in the evening or on a date, but, because it is quite strong (although not overpowering) I wouldn’t really recommend it for daytime. Lasting power is really good too and once you spritz it on, it will linger on for hours on end so you won’t need to worry about reapplying it. That just won’t be necessary.

Available at: Sephora, Amazon, Cheap Smells and Boots.

Summary
Womanity by Thierry Mugler is a sensual, opulent and interesting blend of sweet and salty notes. The opening citrus notes are light but flat, the caviar subtle and not fishy and the drydown rich. Strong, but not overpowering, is more appropriate to wear in the evening. Excellent power is excellent. However, the bottle just creeps me out!

Rating: 3.5/5

I’ve tried a sample of Womanity too and I like it, although the “sample” was just a drop of fragrance on a plastic film.

Lol, I’m not the only one scared by that creepy metal face! :D

La Bisbetica, the fragrance is lovely but I don’t what they were thinking when they designed the bottle. So creepy!

I think the bottle has too much of a contrast (and not in a good way)… like it goes from really chunky metal top to the really feminine bottle. It’s pretty weird. The scent sounds pretty interesting though!

Alex, completely agree with you on the bottle. The contrast isn’t good and the face creepy.. oh well, at least the scent is lovely..

I actually think the bottle looks kind of cool, but maybe it’s because I haven’t seen it up close in person :)

The scent certainly sounds unique, I’ll be sure to give it a sniff if I see it in store.

Makeup Morsels, it looks a bit better in person, so you may like it even more. I know some people that actually love the packaging, but I don’t really like to see faces on my perfumes, it creeps me out lol.

The scent is very interesting indeed.
