From Kiko’s website:
No-rinse Gentle Brush Cleanser. Removes makeup residue and cleans bristles deep down. leaving them soft and shiny and keeping them in good condition.
What I liked:
- removes makeup residue from brushes well
- gentle, leaves bristles soft
- the packaging
- the price
What I didn’t like:
- doesn’t remove all makeup residue from eyeliner and lip brushes
Cleaning your brushes after every use is very important. Dirty brushes can harbour bacteria and cause breakouts. In addition, if the brush is already dirt and has residue of another shade, that’ll get mixed up with the next color you’ll apply and the result won’t be very pretty. But washing brushes with water and soap and waiting for them to dry can take hours (if not a day or two for the largest brushes) so it’s not always feasible. The solution? Deep clean your brushes with soap once a week and spot clean with a good brush cleanser, like Kiko Brush Cleanser, after every use.
Kiko Brush Cleanser is packaged in a slim see-through bottle which allows you to see how much product is still left in it. It removes makeup residue well from the brushes and leaves the bristles soft. All you have to do is spritz the bristles of you brushes and then wipe them on a tissue. A spritz is enough to remove all makeup residue from eyeshadows brushes. For face brushes, which are bigger, you need at least two. Of course, the dirtier your brushes are, the more product it’ll take to remove everything so using this brush cleanser after every use will give you the best results.
However, Kiko Brush Cleanser doesn’t work too well on eyeliner and lip brushes. That’s because these products contain waxes which are harder to melt and remove. The best way to clean these brushes is by wiping them on a tissue soaked with olive oil and then washing them with soap and water. If for whatever reason you can’t wash these brushes after every use, then the Brush Cleanser would be the next best thing but keep in mind that it will only remove some of the product. I’m not disappointed about this though, as I know how hard it is to remove waxes and didn’t expect the Brush Cleanser to get rid of them completely.

Summary
Kiko Brush Cleanser is a gentle but effective brush cleanser that removes traces of makeup from brushes while leaving the bristles soft. Eye brushes need only a small spritz while bigger face brushes require at least two. However, it doesn’t remove all traces of products that contain waxes, such as lipsticks and eyeliners, but then I didn’t expect it to.

Sounds great! I’ve definitely been keeping my eyes open for a good and cost-efficient brush cleanser. I don’t really use eyeliner/lip brushes, though on the rare occasion that I do, it’s good to be aware of having to wipe down beforehand. Makes sense to me. Do the ship internationally?

Emi, I find that using olive oil before washing them helps a lot. And it cleans them so quickly!
Unfortunately the Kiko website doesn’t ship internationally yet. Maybe you can try ebay?
Too bad it can’t remove those oil based makeup! I think that’s the CON of most Brush cleaner! But the pros are a lot! So it must be ok
Nikki, it’s a shame that most Brush Cleansers can’t remove oil-based makeup, isn’t it? But at least it works well to remove everything else.
Thanks for your review. I want to get a new brush cleanser and I think I’ll get BECCA’s soap, read so many amazing reviews about it.

Marina, you’re welcome. And I would love to hear your thoughts on the Becca soap, it sounds wonderful indeed.
I definitely don’t wash my brushes as often as I should! It’s not even because of the drying time, it’s more just because I get so lazy about it, and don’t want to go through the whole soap-and-water-and-conditioner thing more than once a week (ok, more like once every two weeks). I should definitely get a cleanser like this to keep them cleaner in between, thanks for the review

Makeup Morsels, I don’t really like washing my brushes, it feels like such a chore sometimes. But it really needs to be done. *sighs* A brush cleanser like this is the perfect solution to clean your brushes after every use between washes.
