Name: Armpit and Bikini Hair Line Depilatory Cream
Brand: Depilzero
Size: 75ml
Price: €6,90

From the packaging:
Depilzero Armpit and Bikini Hair Line Depilatory Cream, thanks to its particularly delicate formula, is the ideal product to depilate the most sensitive parts of the body.

What I liked:
- doesn’t irritate skin
- the packaging
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- doesn’t remove hair well
- spatula is not very practical
- the scent

I’m not a big fan of depilatory creams. They don’t remove hair as well as razors do and are more time consuming than shaving, but some parts of our bodies (like armpits and the bikini hair line) are more delicate than others so I feel that creams are a gentler, less irritating way to get rid of all that excess hair in those zones. However, finding a depilatory cream is hard for me as most of them tend to irritate my skin. Depilzero ones don’t. But that doesn’t mean that I love their products. In all honesty, they don’t work too well. Here’s why.

The cream is pale green in color , easy to spread with the help of a spatula (but I guess you could use your hands too) and, like most depilatory creams, has a nauseating scent. The packaging says it is supposed to have a pleasant smell but it doesn’t. At all. Still, I can just about put up with it. After all, it’s not like other depilatory creams smell any better.

Like all depilatory creams, this one too contains chemicals that can be very irritating but necessary to remove hair. It contains Calcium Thioglycolate, which dissolves the bonds of keratin, a protein found in hair, making them soft so they break off easily. Sodium Hydroxide is also used to increase the ph so that Calcium Thioglycolate will be more effective. At least in theory, because in practice.. Well, we’ll get to that in minute.

First, a warning. Considering how strong and irritating those chemicals are, it is recommended that you do a patch test on a small area to see if you have any side effects. I know not many people bother with that, but it is very important that you do. I once bought a Veet depilatory cream for legs and arms and I’ll always be thankful that I did a patch test because pretty soon my skin became all red and itchy! Imagine if I had applied that all over my legs! Do your patch tests ladies! They may seem like a waste of time to some of you, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

In addition, doing a patch test will also help you determine how long you need to wait before the cream takes effect and hair are ready to be removed. As for this cream, the packaging states not to leave it on for more than 8 minutes but I find that’s not enough and when I try to remove them with the spatula, which is curved-shaped but has a flat base so it’s not too ideal and practical to use, not many are removed.

Most of the hair is still on my body so I just use my hand or a sponge to do the job and that seems to work much better but the results aren’t too good. After I’m done the hair looks like it does a couple of days after you shaved it with a razor: very short, but still there and visible from a very near distance. Not the result I was expecting after wasting so much time applying it and trying to remove everything!

The only positive thing I have to say about this cream is that it didn’t irritate my skin, but that’s not enough for me to recommend the product since it does a crappy job at removing hair. I guess if your skin is very sensitive and every other depilatory cream has given you a bad reaction, then trying this won’t hurt your wallet too much. But be prepared to spend lots of time in the bathroom to achieve less than average results.

Summary
Overall, Depilzero Armpit and Bikini Hair Line Depilatory Cream is pretty bad. It doesn’t irritate skin, the price is not too high either and the tube practical. The spatula not so much though. In addition, the cream doesn’t remove hair very well and the scent is horrible too!

Xin, I used to rarely do patch tests before I tried the Veet cream. But since that gave me such a bad reaction, I figured I’d better do it from then on. :)

I should really try an epilator. Been wanting do it from sometime now but I’m scared of the initial pain.. I will try it one of these days cos I’m tired of shaving every day and depilatory creams just don’t work that well..
