QOTW: Are You An Impulse Beauty Buyer?

Are you an impulse beauty buyer?

Beautiful with brains says: sometimes. I like to do my research and read blog reviews before making a purchase but sometimes I see a new release from one of my favourite brands or a product with a particularly cute packaging and I’ll buy it on impulse. But it only happens with products from brands I trust and the price has to be cheap!

Vonvon, that’s great. I’m like you. I used to buy on impulse a lot but these days I’d rather read reviews first. But sometimes the temptation is just too strong…

Nope. I rarely buy anything if I’ve just seen it for the first time, I like to do my research first. I think it’s mostly because when I was first getting into makeup, I would see a product in a magazine and they would hype it up. And 80% of the time, the product would turn out to be quite bad, so now I like to look at swatches and reviews online before getting anything.

Makeup Morsels, back then when there weren’t any blogs, I would often get sucked in by products advertized by mags and I agree, they were often very disappointing. Thank goodness for blogs, the reviews and swatches are so helpful!

Sometimes, but like you I prefer to research and plan out my purchases.
But if it’s a pretty nail polish or something inexpensive, I’ll buy on impulse at times. I picked up some lip glosses for 500 yen each as I happened to run across a sale, and the glosses turned out to be well worth the money!

Kuri, isn’t it great when that happens? I think only inexpensive products are worth buying on impulse. If they turn out to be good, you got a great bargain, otherwise, you won’t have wasted a lot of money.

i totally agree. I’ve made too many expensive impulse purchases that turned out badly! :)

Kuri, I’m sorry to hear that. I think high-end products can be tricky as you expect them to be really good and worth the money, but sometimes they can really disappoint too.

May I interrupt…..

Yes, i also have been doing some impulse buy on inexpensive items, usually less than £2 from shops like TJ Hughes and TK Maxx. Got some Rimmel Colour Mousse eyeshadows at £1.99, when the same in Boots cost £4.99!
Or clearance shelf of drugstores like Boots.

Shall be writing about them in coming weeks! :)

Vonvon, those are great bargains! I love clearance shelves/bins, you can find some awesome deals in there. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on those products and see swatches. :)

Most of the time I do a research and make a list. Sometimes I am very pleased with my impulsive purchases but sometimes not at all.

Marina, impulse purchases are always risk and they seem to be either very good or extremely bad. lol. Doing some research and making a list is a good way to make sure you won’t be disappointed by your purchases. :)

Sometimes, especially with sales and cheap items. But only in “real life” shops, when I buy on-line I am more coscentious thanks to pre-payed card, lol!

La Bisbetica, I’m like that too. I never buy on impulse online but in real shops the temptation can be too hard to resist sometimes..
