Do you wear makeup when your skin is acting up?

Beautiful with brains says: it depends on how bad it is acting up and if I have to go out. I find that my skin clears up sooner if I just let it breathe and usually that’s what I do. But if I have a special occasion to go to then I will wear makeup.

Under my eyes only, if my dark circles are bad, but either than that I don’t wear anything at all. I just wear my glasses and that’s what keeps me sane, lol.

Dee, I like wearing a bit of concealer if my dark circles are really, really bad and I need to go out. But usually not wearing anything is best. It is frustrating but skin clears up sooner that way.

When I used to have acne I didn’t want to leave the house with all my zits showing so I would definitely wear makeup to cover them up. Of course that made them worse, but eventually it led me to realize all of the products I was using on my face contained pore clogging ingredients. Now that my face is better I still wear makeup all the time – to cover redness, sun spots, etc. So no matter what – I wear makeup!

Jeni, the products you use to cover up imperfections certainly make a difference. If they are comedogenic, your skin is never going to get better. My skin clears up sooner when I just let it breathe but if I’m gonna wear makeup, I make sure the products I use don’t contain ingredients that may make things much worse. :)

I try not to. If my skin is already bad, I don’t want to make it worse with makeup. It took a lot of training and self-control for me not to apply makeup during those times but it’s so worth it.

Dao, I completely agree with you. It’s hard not to cover up imperfections but it does help in clearing skin up sooner.

I try not to wear makeup, or I wear only powder and take my makeup off as soon as possible. I noticed that if I leave skin free it gets better sooner but I can’t leave home with bare face! :(

La Bisbetica, it feels so uncomfortable when your skin is a mess and you have to go out without wearing makeup. But then, it’ll take longer to heal if you don’t. *sighs* But I think that using products without comedogenic ingredients and taking everything off as soon as possible is a good compromise.

I’ll let it breathe without makeup if i don’t have to be anywhere. If I have to look “done,” I’ll pack on that concealer, lol!

Tammy, I agree with you. It’s always best to let skin breathe but sometimes we just have to wear makeup and concealer can be really handy then!

Prettykitty, that’s nice. It’ll help cover up imperfections and make you look polished. :)

Nope. No make up, even no concealer if my skin behaves in a mad way. Unfortunately I suffer from rosacea, so this happens more often than usual. :-(

Mylanqolia, I’m sorry to hear that, how awful! :( Best to let skin breathe then.
