Also the eyes can be illuminated thanks to the glitter! Layla assures a prefect laydown and a superior duration thanks to the most fine brush.
What I liked:
- beautiful shades
- glitters are fine and make eyes sparkle beautifully
- n.1 has excellent color payoff
What I didn’t like:
- these crease even with a primer
- some of the shades are not very pigmented
- can’t be blended with applicator provided
- very hard to remove
I’m not really a fan of glittery products on the eyes, mainly because they are usually super sheer and you end up with only a few chunks of glitters here and there. So annoying! But Layla really surprised me with their glitter eyeliners and how insanely pigmented they are so I hoped their Glitter in Eyeshadow shades would be the same. Sadly not.
In all fairness though, I have to say that pigmentation varies from shade to shade (there are 12 available), so if you are thinking of trying these eyeshadows, make sure you swatch them at the counter. I tried three of them and my favourite was, undoubtedly, N.3. It is a brownish copper with tiny gold glitters and, out of the shades I tried, it is the only one to have excellent pigmentation. Just one swipe is enough to achieve opaque coverage, as you can see in the swatch.
N.1 is a silver shade chock full of very fine silver glitter. I like to use it on the inner corner of my eyes to add some sparkle and open up the eyes. Pigmentation is just average, it’s not completely opaque in one coat but doesn’t sheer out too much when you apply it on your eyes. I suggest you pat it on instead than sweeping or blending it to get the best color payoff.
N.4, instead, was a disappointment. It is a very pretty glittery pink with purple undertones but it is very sheer. Doesn’t matter how or how much you apply, you’re never gonna get an opaque coverage and it just end up looking kinda patchy on the eyes. Not a good look. Shame, cos the shade itself is gorgeous!
All 3 shades come with a wand applicator, just like that of a lipgloss, that makes it easy to place the color where you want it, but to blend it, you’d have to use your own brush. They also take about a minute or so to dry, depending on how much product you use for each application. N.3 requires very little so it dries fast but with the other two shades you may wanna build up the color so they take longer to dry.
But that’s not the main problem I have with these eyeshadows. What I really hate is how they horribly crease on me! Having somewhat oily lids, that often happens to me with most eyeshadows but I don’t mind. I just apply primer beforehand and I’m good to go. But not with these. Even with a base, Layla Glittery Eyeshadows crease on me, and very badly too, just after 15 minutes! At that point, I just took the makeup off so I can’t really say if these stay put all day or not but it doesn’t really matter to me cos, unless you have dry lids (which I don’t), you can’t wear these and there is no way I could leave the house with these on.
Of course, because these contain glitters, removing them wasn’t easy. The glitters end up everywhere on your face and could get into your eyes too and that can be pretty dangerous, so be careful when you remove them. However, that is a problem with all glittery products, so that’s to be expected.

Summary
Layla Glitter in Eyeshadows are available in 12 shades, all chock full of glitters that will make your eyes sparkle beautifully. Not only are they hard to remove (which is true for all glitter products), but they crease horribly even with a primer. Pigmentation vary but it’s poor in n.1 and n.4. Unlike the others, n.3 is insanely pigmented and, if you have dry lids, I encourage you to check it out as it is simply stunning.
Rating: n.1: 2.5/5, n.3 and n.4: 2/5

N. 1 and 4 look lovely in the swatches. But too bad it creases even with primer.

Vonvon, they are very pretty indeed. I was so sad they just wouldn’t work for me. Maybe those with dry lids would get better results but then they didn’t work with primers either so who knows?
Oooh, sounds disappointing! But how about using them as glitter liners? Have you already tried to apply them as liners?
Mylanqolia, as eyeshadows are very disappointing. I haven’t tried them as eyeliners yet. I think they pink may be too sheer for that but no 3 could work that way. I will give it a try, thanks for the suggestion.
