I was shaving my legs the other days and I realized that, even though I mentioned several times on this blog that this is my favourite hair removal method as it is quick and painless, I have never written a post on how to get a clean, close shave. Well, I think it’s high time I remedy that, don’t you? So, here we go:
1. Get a razor
Women’s razors come in cute colors and fancy packaging but you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get one that works well. You can use a man’s razor too if you want to. The important thing is that you choose one with multiple blades as that’s what gives a really close shave. And make sure you change the blade after a few uses or it will become dull and won’t shave as well, possibly leading to cuts and nicks too.
2. Grab a shaving cream
The other thing you need to shave is a shaving cream. Again, there is no need to buy one targeted for women as they aren’t really different from men’s ones. They work the same way, but they have a sweeter scent, a cuter packaging and a higher price tag. You can save money by buying a cheaper, men’s shaving cream or just use your hair conditioner. I prefer the latter actually, it leaves skin so soft and smooth!
3. Soften your legs
The best time to shave is when you are in the shower or bath as the moisture, heat and hot water will soften your skin, ensuring your razor will glide on smoothly. Don’t even attempt to shave your skin when dry. Your razor won’t glide on as easily, causing cuts and nicks. Then, apply shaving cream or conditioner on the area you’re about to shave.
4. Now, you can shave
Pull tightly at your skin with one hand so that the surface becomes smoother (this also allows the razor to glide on more easily) and with the other start shaving against the growth of your hair. I know some people recommend shaving in the same direction in which your hair grows but this doesn’t work too well for me. Remember to use short strokes and a light hand. You can cut yourself if you apply too much pressure. Also, start at your ankles and work your way up, and rinse the razor often to remove excess cream and hair.
5. Apply lotion
Once you’re done, splash your skin will lukewarm water. Towel dry and apply your favourite body lotion. Shaving irritates skin and a body moisturizer will soothe it while also keeping it soft and moisturized.
Do you shave too or do you prefer other hair-removal methods?

I just like to read your post as they are very useful and good.
Do you think using a razor is a good idea or should one go with waxing the hairs off.

LatestGirls, aww thank you! I’m glad you appreciate my posts and find them useful.
I think it depends on your personal preference really. I’ve been shaving for years with a razor and never had any problems. The only downside is that the hairs grows back so fast so if that bothers you (and you can deal with the pain) waxing is a good idea. Otherwise, using a razor works well too.
I love using hair conditioner to shave my legs, it works much better than shaving gels/cream!
