Tweezers, and mirror and sunscreen. I wouldn’t need any scrubs as assuming I’m on a tropical beach I would just roll around in the sand. I would also crack open a few coconuts and use the oils for my hair, lips and skin.

So when are we going? ; )

Annabella, mirrors and tweezers would be handy! And I hadn’t thought of using coconuts like that, but it’s a great idea! :)

I’d have to go with your answers too. But if we’re talking strictly cosmetics, then foundation, mascara, and a tinted lipbalm or gloss!

Is toilet paper considered a beauty item?

Reply

beautifulwithbrains April 13, 2011 at 6:41 pm

Ashley, it can be used to remove excess shine so yeah. In any case, it would be a very handy thing to have.

Sunscreen, Aquaphor and clean water. Water’s a beauty item, right?

Jeni, a deodorant would be a very handy thing to bring too. It’s so hard to pick only 3 items, isn’t it?

Mascara, lipstick, and toilet paper. I plan to stay in the shade.

Ashley, staying in the shade is a great idea. I think I may keep you company there. ;)

I’m going to be contrary and NOT say sunscreen. Instead, lip balm, heavy moisturizer and…oh heck, sunscreen after all.

I like to carry a moisturizer, lipgloss and sunscreen with me.

So that my skin wouldn’t get burnt with all the sun exposure that I would get for free.

Moisturizer with SPF, a shampoo&shower gel and lipbalm with SPF. Multi-purpose cosmetics are useful in these occasions.

Prettykitty, that’s nice! Remember to slather on the sunscreen too. :)

Reply

Prettykitty April 23, 2011 at 12:37 am

Too much sunscreen is not good for you because I have light brown skin I dont burn!

Reply

beautifulwithbrains April 25, 2011 at 8:08 pm

Prettykitty, you should apply sunscreen anyway. Even light brown skin can burn. Not easily but it can burn. Besides, the sun rays cause free radicals which are the main cause of premature aging. Applying sunscreen daily will make you age a lot better and keep wrinkles at bay for longer.

Prettykitty April 26, 2011 at 6:42 pm

Sometimes I put on sunscreen but not all the time!

Prettykitty, that’s nice and better than never. But you should try to wear it daily, maybe by using a moisturizer with SPF? That’s about enough to get enough protection on most days. :)

My face lotion says it protects from envirormental influecnce ( i know its spelled wrong) but it does not say how much??

Prettykitty, sounds like a very generic claim. If it doesn’t state a SPF number I doubt it offers protection against the sun rays. :(

Reply

btw sunscreen is packed with chemecials so we have to be careful!

Prettykitty, it’s not true that chemicals are bad for you. Some chemicals are not all. In fact, everything is a chemical: water is a chemical, plants and human beings are made up of lots and lots of chemicals etc. Some sunscreen ingredients are synthetically derived and if you don’t feel comfortable using them (even though they are safe), you can always use sunscreens with Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which are naturally occurring minerals. :)

John A. Kenney Jr., M.D., professor of dermatology at Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C., notes that black skin seems to have more protection against UV rays than white skin, due to melanin and perhaps other factors. However, warns Kenney, blacks can sunburn to some degree. And UVA does cause some aging changes in black skin as well.

beautifulwithbrains April 25, 2011 at 8:40 pm

AshleyLee, thanks for your comment. Black skin offers more protection against the sun rays than white skin but they still cause damage like premature aging and cancer. Everyone should wear sunscreen daily.

Prettykitty, it doesn’t really matter what color your skin is. It can still burn and get premature wrinkles because of the sun rays.

I know this is totally the wrong place, but I have a couple of questions.

1) Where would someone enter her photo?

2) bwb, why do you look so sad in your photo?

Reply

Ashley Lee, you mean the avatar photo? You would need to get a gravatar. You can do so here: http://it.gravatar.com/

I didn’t think I looked sad lol. Maybe it’s due to the small size of the picture?
