Nettle Extract is an extract derived from the leaves of the Nettle (Urtica Dioica) plant.

What it does
Nettle Extract has anti-inflammatory properties.

Side effects
Nettle Extract is generally considered to be safe.

I don’t know if I’ve seen nettle extract in cosmetics, but I take it in vitamin form. It’s supposed to be good for allergies, and hair loss – two of my biggest health problems. Is it used in cosmetics and skin care also?

Jeni, I’ve never seen it in cosmetics and skincare but it was in one shampoo I used last year. The company claimed it helped with dandruff but there was so little of the ingredient in it that it just didn’t do nothing at all! It’s an anti-inflammtory though so if used in high enough concentrations in skincare products, it should help soothe skin.
