This is such a long overdue review as I’ve actually owned this brush for about two years now! I got it as soon as it was first released and, at the time, there weren’t any testers available at my store yet, but I was so excited about Pupa finally releasing a line of brushes and I just adore their products, whose quality is usually pretty high, that I thought I would have liked their Blusher Brush too. I was wrong.
As soon as I took the brush out of the red it came in and touched the bristles I was disappointed. Although they are natural, they aren’t soft at all and when I tried to apply blush with it, it scratched and irritated my skin! Now, that alone is a good enough reason to stop using it straight away, but I still proceeded as I wanted to know if, at least, it did a decent job at applying blush.
Well, it doesn’t. The fluffy, dome-shaped bristles don’t really pick up that much product to begin with (but that’s not necessarily bad if you have pale skin and are trying to apply a pigmented blush), but they also apply blush in an uneven and patchy way and it takes quite a lot of work to get a natural flushed look. That’s a pretty crappy performance, especially when we consider that this brush is not really that cheap.
The good thing about it is the fact that the bristles have never shed nor bleed (at least so far). To be honest, I didn’t wash this brush a lot in two years, simply because I haven’t used it a lot, but the few times I did wash it, that didn’t make the bristles any softer. But as you can see from the picture above, the brush has now a few stray hair as a result of washing so I’m not sure if it’d remain in good condition for a long time if you used (and washed) it a lot. But then, who would use a scratchy brush that makes blush application so difficult?!

Pupa Blusher Brush has fluffy, dome-shaped, natural bristles that scratch skin and apply blush in a patchy, uneven way. A natural result can be achieved, but it takes a lot of work. At least the bristles don’t shed nor bleed but it is still a very disappointed brush, especially considered its price tag.

I agree with you, I tried the tester of this brush and was quite scratchy. It’s a pity since it’s hard to find good brushes without spending more than 20 euros or buying them online. I must look for Ecotools or Body shop blush brushes… online!

La Bisbetica, I agree with you that it’s so difficult to find inexpensive but good quality brushes. I love Pupa and I was hoping their brushes would be good but this one at least is so scratchy. I’m glad you got to try the tester and saved some money. The Ecotools blush brush is one of my favourites, it is very soft and I also love TBS brushes. If you buy them, you won’t regret it.
Aww… too bad. And you can kinda tell just by looking at it since those bristles seem to be bent every which way.

Trisha, yep. I really wish I had waited to get until they put out testers.. You can just tell by looking at it and touching the bristles that this brush isn’t good..
