Name: Lip Tar in Demure
Brand: OCC
Size: 8ml
Price: $13.00

From OCC’s website:
OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment – a little goes a very, very long way!

What I liked:
- available in lots of shades
- very pigmented
- satin finish
- not-sticky
- texture doesn’t dry lips
- can be mixed with other Lip Tars to create new shades
- longlasting
- the packaging

What I didn’t like:
- runny formula
- needs to be applied with a brush to avoid bleeding and staining of the skin
- stains lips a bit

I don’t think OCC Lip Tars need any introductions. These revolutionary lip products are insanely pigmented and are available in a huge selections of colors, including primary and secondary ones like yellow, blue and green, so that you can mix and match them to create your own customary shades! Isn’t that wonderful?

Thanks to my boyfriend, I finally had the chance to try my first Lip Tar. He bought me Demure, which is a deep purple with strong fuchsia undertones. Although it applies glossy, it soon dries to a satin finish, like that of a lipstick and the Peppermint Oil in the product will give a tingling sensation to your lips. Demure is a very intense and quite bold shade and definitely not a color for the faint of heart! The color is highly pigmented and so a tiny little bit goes a long, long, long way!

But if you’re thinking of applying it straight from the tube, just forget it! I didn’t use a brush in the swatch above and I think you can see application is not perfect. You need a lip brush to apply Lip Tars otherwise you would apply way too much product, which can lead to color bleeding. In addition, using a lip brush will make application more precise and avoid the color from going outside the line and stain skin. Application can be a bit of challenge at first, especially which an intense and dark shade like Demure, but it’s definitely worth the results!

The texture is not that moisturizing, but it doesn’t dry lips either and I love that it isn’t sticky at all. It just feels very comfortable once on but it is also the most longlasting lip product I have ever tried. It stays on for hours on end and although it fades somewhat, it is still on my lips after I’ve had dinner. However, this isn’t transfer resistant so the color can transfer on your glass or napkin when you’re having a meal or on someone else if you kiss them. ;)

It also isn’t always necessary to reapply the Lip Tar after you had a meal as some color will still remain on your lips. Only if you want it to be as intense as before, you may touch it up a little. Also, Demure tends to stain lips a bit when you remove it so make sure you use a good oil-based remover to take it all off.

Summary
Overall, I adore OCC Lip Tars and I’m definitely getting more in the future. Demure is an intense purple with fuchsia undertones and a glossy finish, but there are lots of other colors available so you can mix and match them to create your own shade. The Lip Tars have a very pigmented but also runny texture so you need to apply them with a brush to avoid bleeding and staining skin. They are longlasting but not transfer resistant and don’t dry lips.

Rating: 4.5/5

Wow, that’s bright! But it really is highly pigmented. I just wish companies would stop putting peppermint in their lip products. I don’t like that. And it makes my lips peel.

Trisha, it is very pigmented and bright indeed! I love it!

Oh, that’s too bad that peppermint makes your lips peel. I usually don’t mind peppermint oil but sometimes the tingling sensation is too strong that can be almost painful and, in that case, I don’t really see the point of including it.
