Name: Cleansing Gel Wash
Brand: Garnier
Size: 150ml
Price: €3,99

From Garnier’s website:
The soap-free formula combines cleansing agents with grape water and cleanses, refreshes and invigorates skin.

What I liked:
- cleanses skin well, removing makeup and impurities
- doesn’t irritate skin
- the scent
- the packaging
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- if you have sensitive skin, this may be drying for you
- doesn’t remove waterproof makeup

I was browsing the skincare aisle at my local supermarket a while ago when I came across Garnier Fresh Essentials Cleansing Gel Wash for normal or combination skin like mine. Garnier cleansers always worked well for me and I have a soft spot for gel washes so I decided to give it a go. And I’m glad I did.

Garnier Fresh Essentials Cleansing Gel Wash has a transparent, gel, kinda thick consistency that’s easy to apply. Pour a small amount (a little goes a loooong way with this) on your damp hands, rub them together to make it lather and then massage your hands in circular motion on your face to get rid of all impurities and traces of makeup. Be careful as the cleanser produces a lot of foam, thanks to Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is one of the main cleansing agents (together with Coco-Betaine) in the cleanser.

This gel wash does a great job at cleansing my skin. It removes dirt, all traces of regular makeup (doesn’t work too well with waterproof products but I rarely wear them anyway) and all other impurities. When I apply toner afterwards, the cotton pad remains clean, which means the cleanser already removed everything, like all good cleanser should.

I find this gel wash quite gentle on my combination skin. It didn’t irritate nor dry out my skin, but because of SLES, this may be too harsh for those with sensitive skin. In that case, a moisturizing cream cleanser would be the best option. However, this face wash isn’t aimed at those with sensitive skin so I can’t really take points away from it because of it.

And did I mention the fresh scent this cleanser has? I usually prefer my skincare products to be fragrance-free, but this gel wash has a nice and clean grape scent that’s not overpowering and just smells lovely. I also dig the packaging. The green squeeze tube is simple, pretty and hygienic. And it doesn’t pour out too much product so none of it gets wasted.

Available at: supermarkets and drugstores

Summary
If you have normal or combination skin and are looking for a cleanser, then consider Garnier Fresh Essentials Cleansing Gel Wash. It has a pleasant grape scent and a thick gel consistency that applies easily, produces a lot of foam and removes all traces of dirt and regular makeup, leaving skin clean and refreshed. However, it doesn’t remove waterproof makeup well and it can be too harsh for those with sensitive skin.

I’ll make a mental note to pick this up (if it’s available) for the next winter.
My usual cleanser (Garnier Pure 3-in-1) dries out my combination skin come winter-time, so I went for Garnier Nutritionist one and it gave me normal, non-flaky skin again.
I love the scent of their whole green line :) .

Ana, I hope you can find it. It is a very effective cleanser and it didn’t dry out my skin at all. :)

The green line has a lovely scent, I agree.

I love garnier products. Especially their shampoos.

Haven’t tried this one yet.

I got it last June and used it ’till november when my sking was quite oily, but if you have your skin getting sensitive at winter like me, you can use garnier essentials cleansing gel cream :)
