Name: Creamy Eyeshadow in n.1 and n.6
Brand: Layla
Size: 7,5ml
Price: €11,27

From Layla’s website:
A flawless make up which lasts. No Transfer Creamy Eye shadow wakes up the most shiny notes to grant a sparkling result.

What I liked:
- available in lots of shades
- creamy consistency, easy to apply
- very pigmented
- beautiful metallic and sparkling finish
- longlasting

What I didn’t like:
- if you have oily lids, these crease even if you use a primer
- can’t be blended with the applicator provided, you’ll have to use your fingers or your own brush
- the packaging

For years I always avoided cream eyeshadows cos no matter how I use them, they always crease horribly on me. Lately though, I discovered the Michael Todd Long Wear Cream Eyeshadows that just stay put all day without creasing even on me so I started to reconsider cream eyeshadows. Maybe I should give them another try. And the opportunity came when Layla sent me two shades (there are 14 available) of their No Transfer Creamy Eyeshadow.

Now you know how much I love Layla products, right? And the few reviews I’ve read on these cream shadows say how pigmented and crease-proof they are so I was eager to try them. Well, they were right on the pigmentation (but then all Layla products have excellent color payoff) but they crease so bad on me! :( If you have even just slightly oily lids, do not attempt to wear these shadows without a primer or after a few minutes your makeup will become a complete and utter mess!

But with a primer, they still crease. I used them with both UDPP and TFSI and, although there is a lot less creasing and it is a lot less noticeable, some color still ends up in the folds of the eyes. Now, my lids are somewhat oily so most eyeshadows crease on me when used alone, but over a primer, that simply should not happen. Because of this, I can only recommend these Layla creamy eyeshadows to those with dry lids who usually don’t experience creasing with any cream shadows.

If that’s you, you’ll be happy to know that once applied, they stay put for hours and only fade (just a tiny little bit) after about 6-7 hours of wear. In addition, the colors are beautiful and pigmented. N.1 is a silvery white with a metallic finish while N.6 is a stunning metallic gold. Both shades have excellent color payoff so you only need very little for each application and a creamy consistency that spreads like a dream on the lids. The metallic finish also creates a luminous effect on the eyes, making them sparkle.

Now, the packaging. I have mixed feelings about it. I like the tube but not the shape of the cap. It makes the tube look a bit cheap in my opinion. It comes with a wand, just like that of a lipgloss, to apply the product on your lids. It’s very easy to place the color with it (although it is easy to pick up too much of it) but you’ll have to blend it with your fingers or a brush.

Summary
It was really hard for me to give a rating to Layla Creamy Eyeshadow in.1 and n.6. Part of me thinks they deserve a lower rating than 3 because they crease even with a primer (albeit slightly) on me. On the other hand, this is not all that noticeable really and they have a lot of other things going for them: excellent pigmentation, creamy consistency which makes application easier, a metallic finish and don’t fade. I can see them working well for those with normal or dry lids that usually don’t a problem with cream shadows (I don’t think they’ll crease on them) and that’s why in the end I gave them a 3, which means average. But if you have oily lids, stay away from them, they just won’t work for you at all!

Rating: 3/5

They sound like they don’t set. Have you tried using these as a base? Shame that they crease even with a primer! The colors look amazingly pigmented. I really like that metallic gold shade.

Dee, they don’t transfer nor fade, but crease. But then cream shadows usually cream on me. The gold is my favourite too, it’s so beautiful and I’m gutted it doesn’t work for me. :( No, I haven’t tried them as a base yet. I was so frustrated with the creasing that I just gave up. I’ll try that one of these days and see how they work as a base, thanks.
