Product Review: Maybelline Salon Manicure Protecting Top Coat

Name: Salon Manicure Protecting Top Coat
Brand: Maybelline
Size: 10ml
Price: £3.99

From Maybelline’s website:
Adds shine, increases wear and protects nail colour.

What I liked:
- high glossy finish
- dries fast
- make polishes last a bit longer
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- on me, polishes last only one more day before chipping
- glossy finish lasts only 3 days (not too bad but could be better)

Lately I’ve become obsessed with nail polishes so I was on the lookout for a good but cheap top coat that would make them last longer on my nails. My choice fell upon Maybelline Salon Manicure Protecting Top Coat and so far, it works. Just as well as any other top coat really. It does its job but nothing more.

Because I use my hands a lot, I’m lucky if nail polishes start to chip after 3 days and I was hoping this top coat would prolong wear. And it does, but it only makes it last one more day on my nails. Unless I’m wearing a pretty resilient polish to start with, it doesn’t last up to a week even with the Maybelline Top Coat on top. But as I sad, I’m pretty hard on my nails and hands so that may be why the top coat doesn’t work as well as I had hoped.

The top coat also promises to add shine to nail polishes and that it delivers. The finish is very shiny and beautifully glossy but starts to dull after about 3 days of wear, which is ok. Another good thing is that it dries fast so you won’t have to wait long before starting using your hands again and won’t ruin your manicure in doing so.

Summary
Overall, Maybelline Salon Manicure Protecting Top Coat does everything a top coat must do. Adds shine and prolongs wear but only for one, maybe two more days. However, it is inexpensive.

    • LatestGirls, that always happens to me too. So frustrating. I was hoping this top coat would solve the problem but it only gave me one more day of wear before chipping. Still, that’s better than nothing I suppose.
