Name: Sense Tech 100% Mat Nail Polish in N.04
Brand: Deborah
Size: 8,5ml
Price: €7,80

From Deborah’s website:
Silica-based nail enamel with a trend setting 100% satin-matt finish. Velvety, sophisticated, glamorous.

What I liked:
- beautiful and pigmented shade
- matte finish
- lovely formula, applies easily without streaks
- dries very quickly
- the bottle
- the price

What I didn’t like:
- some may not like that it contains formaldehyde resin
- not very longlasting without a top coat

Matte nail polishes have become very popular in the past few years, but here in Italy it’s still hard to come across a brand that sells them. It seems like we’re always the last to enjoy the latest beauty trends and products (mineral makeup hasn’t exactly taken Italy by storm and gel eyeliners are hard to find as well). *Sighs* So, even though I’m not a big Deborah fan, when I spotted their Sense Tech 100% Mat Line I picked up a bottle straight away.

The range is still small and there are only six shades available yet. I opted for N.04, which is a beautiful, pastel mint green with a, obviously, matte finish. I love green nail polishes and this shade is both fun but elegant and would suit both pale and darker skintones. The shade is very pigmented and one coat is enough to get an opaque coverage, although I still like to apply two for better results.

It has a flat brush that makes application easy and the formula is just right, not too thick, not too thin nor runny. It just spreads easily without streaking or creating those ugly-looking bubbles. Once applied, it dries pretty fast too so you won’t have to wait long before using your hands again and won’t have the time to mess it up (which is something that somehow often happens to me with most polishes lol). ;)

Deborah recommends not to use a top coat with this polish as that would change its finish from matte to shiny (unless you apply a matte top coat of course), so I didn’t apply one. Without, this lasts about 3 days on my nails before slightly chipping, which isn’t too bad at all considering how much I use my hands. But if you wanna wear it for longer, then you’d just have to purchase a matte top coat or just wear it shiny rather than matte.

Finally, a word about the ingredients. While this polish doesn’t contain Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene and Formaldehyde, it does contain Tosylamide/Formaldehyde Resin, which is used to make nail polishes resilient, tough and last longer. This resin is made with Formaldehyde (a toxic substance), but during the manufacturing process, its structure is completely changed and the final resin either contains minuscule amounts of Formaldehyde (less than 0.2%) or none at all. It is therefore considered safe to be used in cosmetics as it doesn’t have the same side effects as Formaldehyde, but I thought I’d mention it as I know some people prefer to avoid products that contain it anyway.

Summary
Deborah Sense Tech 100% Mat Nail Polish in N.04 is a very pretty mint green shade with a matte finish. It has a wonderful formula that applies easily without streaking, dries fast and is cheap but it doesn’t last long before it starts to chip.

Rating: 4/5

that sure is a nice matte-color! gotta have one, too! Thanks for filling us in with the toxic-to-nontoxic tale (filled our brains, too!) of the substances in this polish. I’m good with early chipping just as long as it doesn’t contain a ton of drying and harmful ingredients.

herroyalbleakness, it is a pretty color with a lovely matte finish, isn’t it? And you’re welcome. I can see why people get scared when they read Tosylamide/Formaldehyde Resin in the ingredient list. It’s easy to confuse it with Formaldehyde and think it’s equally toxic but it’s not. They are two different substances and while Formaldehyde is toxic, the resin isn’t. It is instead safe and won’t cause any health problems.

I love that shade so much. It’s beautiful. Also, I’m glad to hear that it has a flat brush. I prefer them over round.

The shade is so pretty! I haven’t tried any matte nail polishes at all. I prefer glossy to matte :)

Dao, I prefer glossy too but I’m also fond of mattes. Do give them a try, you may be surprised. ;)

Normally, I don’t like mattes very much (unless you put a matte topcoat over a glitter polish, which I think is gorgeous), but I really love the look of this polish!

Makeup Morsels, I never tried a matte top coat over a glitter polish but it sounds lovely. I’ll definitely give it a go. ;)
