2010 is almost over and we’re getting ready to celebrate the start of the new year, which I hope will bring you all lots of love, happiness and joy. But for now, I thought it’d be nice to take a trip down memory lane and reminisce about some of the topics we talked about in 2010. Are you ready? Let’s get started then!
8 Tips To Fake A Good Night’s Sleep And Look Awake: we all have days when we look tired and wan. Our skin is dull, we have bad dark circles and just look miserable. But we still want to present our best face to the world if we have to go out and achieving that is not that difficult. There are lots of little tips and tricks to use to look fresh, awake and well-rested. Read the article to find them out!
How do antioxidants work?: we all know that eating foods and using products chock full of antioxidants will help us fight premature aging and keep us healthy and younger-looking for longer, but what exactly are antioxidants? How do they work, in what foods can we find them and, most importantly, how effective are they really?
How to care for combination skin: I have combination skin and I know what a real pain it is. Different areas of our faces have different needs and it’s really hard to find a skincare routine that addresses all of them and not make things worse. Hopefully, this article will help you find the right balance for your skin.
Why I don’t read women’s magazines anymore: I used to be an avid magazine reader but now I only subscribe to one. These days, most magazines just make women feel bad about themselves by promoting and unhealthy and unattainable image of beauty, tell us we need to lose weight and buy expensive things to be happy and just dish the stupidest advice ever about relationships (and everything else really).
3 Reasons Why You Should Use Retinoids: retinoids are one of those ingredients that everyone (unless they can’t tolerate them of course), should incorporate in their skincare routine. They can stimulate the production of Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen, thus preventing new wrinkles from forming as well as helping to reduce those you already have and they can also fade hyperpigmentation spots! Be sure not to use Retinoids with AHAs or BHA though or they’ll lose their efficacy!
What should I apply first: moisturizer or sunscreen?: we all know by now that we should always wear sunscreen even in winter but when should we apply it to get the most out of it? Before or after moisturizer? And is there a general rule or just depends on what sunscreen are we using?
Beauty Tips from Lola Montez: Lola Montez led a very interesting life. An Irish-born dancer, she went on to become the mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria! But when her fortunes changed for the worse, she reinvented herself as a lecturer and wrote a successful book about beauty, The Arts Of Beauty, published in 1859. While some of the beauty advices and recipes she gives in the book are weird for us, others are spot on and valid still today!
Natural Preservatives in Beauty Products: synthetic preservatives are fast getting a (undeserved) bad reputation and so, more and more people, are starting to look for natural alternatives believing they are safer. But what are these natural preservatives? Are they really as effective as synthetic preservatives and, if so, why aren’t they more widely used?
How to Treat Dry Hair: does your hair feel like straw, look lifeless and is hard to manage? Then you probably have dry hair so take a few minutes to read this post and find out what causes it and how you can treat it.
Do cosmetics with SPF offer enough sun protection?: cosmetics and skincare products with SPF seem like a great alternative to sunscreen. But are they really as effective or do you still need to wear sunscreen underneath? Or is just depends on the season?
Interview with Brittany from Clumps of Mascara: in May I had the pleasure of interviewing the Queen of Mascara, Brittany from Clumps of Mascara. Read the interview to find out what her favourite beauty products are, what mascaras she recommends, how she takes care of her skin and much more!
What’s the difference between UVA and UVB rays?: that the sun rays are dangerous, we all know. That the sun emits both UVA and UVB rays is another fact we all know. But what’s the difference between the two and which type is more harmful?
Do anti-aging creams work?: most women spend lots of money every year on anti-aging creams hoping they will turn back the hands of time and make us look younger. Sadly, that almost never happens. So, are anti-aging creams useless or do we expect too much from them? And in that case, what can they really do?
Does sunscreen in hair care products really work?: more and more hair care products claim to contain sunscreen to protect even our locks from the dangerous sun rays. But are these products effective? And why don’t they come with a SPF number like skincare products?
8 Tips to Buy Makeup on Ebay: whether you’re looking for a LE item, a product that’s not available in your country or an expensive item at a discounted price, you’ll probably find it on ebay. And at a bargain price too! But shopping on ebay can also be tricky and not all sellers are honest. Here are some tips and tricks to avoid bad experiences while shopping at this famous auction website.
What can I do if I’m allergic to sunscreen?: even though the sun rays are dangerous and we should all wear sunscreen to protect our skin from them, some people are allergic to it and can’t therefore use it. What can you do in that case? Should you avoid all sunscreen ingredients or just some of them? And who’s more at risk of developing a sunscreen allergy?
