If you read my blog regularly, then you’ll know that I’m not very adventurous with my lip colors. I love bright and colorful eyeshadows, but when it comes to glosses and lipsticks, I shy away from reds, plums and any dark color in general. So when I received Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Extravagant Plum, which looks a very dark berry plum infused with shimmers in the tube, I was a bit scared to try it.
Well, I shouldn’t have worried because on the lips, Extravagant Plum is a sheer plum color with a hint of berry with flecks of gold, red, blue and pink, that’s safe and wearable even for the day time or the office. The tiny glitter particles will catch the light and make your lips shine but not in an over-the-top way at all. It’s a very elegant shade that will suit most skintones.
The texture’s lovely too: it is not too thick nor too thin but it is slightly tacky. Not that much to bother me though as it still feel very comfortable on the lips. It is not the most moisturizing gloss that I’ve tried but it doesn’t feel drying either. I would suggest applying a lip balm beforehand if your lips are a bit dry though.
Although I prefer fragrance-free cosmetics, I completely fell in love with the scent of this gloss. It smells and tastes like fig, which is a sweet (but not too sweet) fruit scent. This was the first time that I came across a fig scent honestly. Who knew it would smell so deliciously wonderful? The taste is amazing too.
As for the staying power, I get about 3 hours of wear, which I was quite pleased with. Usually most glosses last a hour and a half or even less on me so I was glad that I don’t have to retouch this one too often. Of course it disappear faster if I eat but so do most glosses. To me, the only real con is the price. €24,00 is a lot for a gloss so I would recommend you go to the counter and play with them before purchasing. But beware, you risk falling in love with these glosses too, they are amazing!

Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Extravagant Plum is an elegant sheer berry plum with a shiny finish that’s suitable for any occasion. It has a lovely texture that’s slightly sticky but still feels comfortably on the lips and smells and tastes delicious! However, it is very pricey and if you have dry lips, you need to wear a lip balm underneath.
