Name: Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette in Extravagant Gold
Brand: Estee Lauder
Size: 7.6g
Price: €48.00

From Estee Lauder’s website:
Holds 5 varying color intensities and finishes. Color adheres velvety smooth, without creasing. Blends easily. Long-wearing. Stays color true. Won’t fade. Sleek compact includes applicator and mirror.

What I liked:
- beautiful shades, perfect for classy and everyday looks
- buttery soft texture, easy to blend
- good color payoff
- elegant packaging also includes a big mirror

What I didn’t like:
- the price

As my regular readers know, I’m not really into natural, brown shades because having pale skin, they tend to wash me out and colorful shades are more fun anyway. But after seeing the Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette in Extravagant Gold and playing with it a few times, I have to say I’m impressed! Not only the colors blend well together to create timeless and  elegant looks, but they aren’t boring at all!

Extravagant Gold contains 5 beautiful, everyday shades: a pearly cream beige, a shimmery yellow gold, a light shimmering brown, a reddish/copper shimmery brown and a medium matte “eyeliner” brown. They all have a buttery-soft, wonderful texture and good color payoff. With the exception of the cream beige which is quite sheer (but then that’s a highlighting shade so it’s supposed to be sheer), the other four shades are medium-pigmented.

However, don’t expect the shades to be bold or intense. Although pigmented, they are soft and perfect for those ladies that work in an office or just like safe, wearable and elegant looks that can be worn in any occasion. Also, even though the shades are all quite warm, they would suit most skintones and look good even on fair, cool-skinned beauties. In addition, once applied, they last for most of the day, but if your lids are oily, you may need a primer to help them stay put from morning till night.

Although the packaging does attract fingerprints, I still love it as the gold case is beautiful, elegant and looks great on my vanity. It also includes a big mirror for easier application while the applicators included are useless. The price, instead, is expensive. But if you’re into wearable and classy looks, love and use browns and gold shades often (and don’t mind the price-tag), then, because of the good pigmentation and soft texture, this palette is definitely worth checking out.

Available at: www.esteelauder.com and Estee Lauder counters

Summary
If you love brown and gold shades and are into safe, wearable looks perfect for the office and any other occasion, then I think you’ll love Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette in Extravagant Gold. Although expensive, it includes 5 nicely-pigmented, buttery-smooth eyeshadows to create timeless looks that last for most of the day.

Rating: 4/5

I really like that middle brown. It would work well in the crease to smoke things up. But, yeah, that price is pretty nuts.

Trisha, that’s a great crease color. I used it to darken the outer V and crease and it does a great job and adds depth to the eyes.

And yeah, the price is expensive but then EL is a high-end brand… at least these are timeless shades most people would use again and again.

The palette does look impressive but like you, I can’t fathom the price. You can definitely do a sexy, smokey eyes look with this palette.

Dao, the price is very expensive but because they are such classic shades one can use for any occasion, I think it will appeal to a lot of people.

oh eeek that price tag! I guess I could maybe justify handing over that much money if I didn’t already have cheaper dupes for those colors. I do like how they coordinated the shades though, they look lovely together.

makeup morsels, I think the price is justified considering the great quality and the fact that these are classic, timeless shades but if one already has dupes, it’s not worth the splurge. The colors do look lovely together. :)
