Estee Lauder Makeup Day at La Rinascente in Rome

Last Saturday I attended the makeup event for bloggers organized by Estee Lauder at La Rinascente store in Piazza Fiume, in Rome to introduce us to their new holiday collection, Pure Color Extravagant. I was very warmly welcomed by the lovely Maria Laura (thank you for inviting me!) who introduced me to Novella and Giovanna, who work at the EL counter at La Rinascente, and Roberto, the brand’s official makeup artist.

I was a bit nervous at first, but everyone was so lovely and kind and put me at ease. Just after I arrived, Novella asked me if I wanted her to give me a makeover and of course I said yes! I already had some foundation on so she just applied concealer on me. She used the lightest shade of the Double Wear concealer, mixed with the Advanced Night Repair Eye for a lighter, more natural coverage and applied it under my eyes and down my face parallel to my nose in a triangular shape to brighten up the eye area.

(Novella giving me a makeover while Roberto was applying makeup on one of the Trendy Nail girls)

On my eyes, she created a warm brown and gold look using the new holiday Pure Color Eye Palette Extravagant and defined the look with the Double Wear Liquid Eyeliner in Brown. She then applied the Turbolash mascara, which has a vibrant wand, on my lashes. I have to say I was a bit hesitant about trying a vibrating mascara as I thought it’d be hard to use but it’s not. Application is easy and it added a lot of length to my lashes. Can’t wait to get one for myself now!

Next, using a big fluffy brush, she applied the Bronze Goddess Shimmer Bronzer at my temples, middle of the cheeks and chin in a 3 pattern shape to give some color to my face and, to finish that sunkissed look, she then swept the Signature Silky Powder Blush on my cheeks. On my lips, she used the brown and gold shades in the new holiday Pure Color Lips Palette 03 Extravagant Gold. To complete the look, she sprayed the Sensuous fragrance, a wonderful woody-amber scent, on me.

(sorry for the crappy lightening, it looked much better in the flesh, I swear!)

It was the first time I had a makeover and I loved the result! I also learned a lot from the makeup artists, who were very talented and patient and answered all our questions. They taught us how to choose the right foundation for our skin and how to apply blush as well as other useful tips and tricks. For instance, applying lipstick on top of gloss gives the illusion of plumper lips and the result is very natural. Who knew?

We also got to play with the new holiday collection, which is beautiful by the way, and saw the new sets for Christmas, but I will tell you all about them in another post. ;) I had a great time at the event and I was also very pleased to finally meet all the other beauty bloggers there too, including Claudia from Wklize , Cristina from Makeup World and the girls from Trendy Nail.

At the end of the event, the sweet Maria Laura, who was the perfect hostess organizing a fab event and making sure everyone was ok and having a great time, gave us a gift bag with some of the products from the Pure Color Extravagant collection:

- Pure Color Eye Palette 03 Extravagant Gold
- Pure Color Lips Palette 01 Extravagant
- Double Wear Liquid Eye Liner in Brown
- Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Extravagant Red
- Pure Color Gloss in Extravagant Plum Sparkle
- Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Extravagant Night

I’ve already started testing the products so expect a lot of Estee Lauder reviews very soon!

Love that look on you, it’s less playful than your normal ones but I notice your features before I am aware of your makeup !

Citrine, thank you! And that’s what I thought too, I could hardly recognize myself. Having pale skin I stay away from bronzer for fear of looking muddy and brown eyeshadows cos they usually wash me out but this look actually suited me and emphasized my feature. I think I’m gonna experiment with such wearable looks more often in the future but I love brights too much so I’ll still wear those as well. :)

Vonvon, are they? There is only one EL counter here and noone to give makeovers so I wasn’t very familiar with their techniques until now but I learned a lot of useful tip and tricks. And yes, it was really fun to have a makeover. :)

They are, gio! I was at their event early this year and had a makeover, and the makeup artist explained those steps to me. Very good techniques indeed.

Sweetie, don’t hate me for saying that but you look so much older and maturer. The make up might be fine for the office but hey, this isn’t you. ;-) Anyways, it sounds like you had a great day there. Besides, it’s super nice of EL to donate you sooooo many lovely items. Have fun with them!

Mylanqolia, I would never hate you for saying that. I guess it’s the light’s fault though, it looked so much better in real life. I think this kind of look though makes me look my age which is a good thing. Sometimes (well only a couple of times) people mistake me for a teenager, which is flattering but also scary lol. I don’t mind looking younger but not that young lol. But yeah, bright looks are more me, I could hardly recognize myself when the MUA had finished lol.

I had a great time at the event, and it was nice to meet other beauty bloggers and the new collection is gorgeous! I’ve been a lot with it lately and reviews are coming soon!
